A fire suit is made from a blacksmith apron which also helps avoid burns. You need to be able to make leather first which requires you get get mussel shells by fishing in a fishing pond which you can craft also. They are a pain to get. I have fished a bunch boiled them but cannot seem to get the shells even with a maxed out cooking skills. In the mean time wear a fireman hat and fireman suit will help avoid most burns but not 100%. Forage a lot to make get herbs to heal faster so at the very least you will have a great first aid skill from all the burn healing.

You have to get mussel shells now?? Don't you just make it with tannin from Bark/Dog sh*t and limestone??

No you also need milk of lime now and you get that from a powder you make from mussel shells.

one tip, using fireman jacket and welding mask is only going to avoid 80% of chance for being burn, so you are definitely going to get burn.

Keep an eye on your burn and bandage it asap, I die from it quite a few times.

And try to do all your smelting at one time while you have your head and chest burn patched up, since burning take a long time to heal. It will be such a bummer to find yourself desperately need one more iron bar after all the burn is healed.

P.S I stop bother to try my luck on mussel shell, just build yourself a mine and you will have better luck there

You can also get Milk of Lime from Limestone and a bucket of water. The Limestone comes from the mine.
