Arma 3
Zombies and Demons
Zombies won't attack civilians
Before anything, I'd like to say you've made a great mod for this beloved game, but I have an issue that needs attention.

I don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but for some reason the zombies won't attack civilians even though I had Attack Civilians Mode on. Can anyone help?

is the zombies side also civilian?

Nevermind bro. Apparently it had something to do with the Laws of War update, preventing AI to purposely attack civilians.

So howdid you fix it, if you did? I have this problem too.

Never did fix it. Basically since the Laws of War update, the AI factions will not kill civilians on purpose, unless you arm the civilians and they shoot back. But even that has a 50/50 chance of them attacking civilians.

I was told there is not yet a work-around for this, and I think the author stated it somewhere that he's still trying to figure it out.

I fixed it myself, in the mission I was making I made the 'resistance' hostile to civvies (as the zombies were ind.)

or you can just make unarmed guys with civilian clothing

or add the civilians in and change their side to BluFor

There are several ways. For example, group CIVs to OPFOR unit (while IND and OPFOR are enemies) and delete that unit. Game technicaly will think CIVs are OPFOR, and IND will attack them. Also you can use command setFriend [side, 1] in mission Init, or individualy per unit use this addRating -10000 that will cause all sides attack this unit.

So I'm sure people have a more efficient Scripted way of doing this, but for now, if you use Zeus and ace, there is a module called "group side"
If you put all the civ's in the area into a squad (just the simple ctrl+drag) then use "group side" on the leader, you can change all of those civies so whichever faction you choose :)

I think the way i wrote it makes sense but if not or if you need anything else drop me a friend request :)

I've got a similar issue, they wont attack anyone at all unless I order them to.

I actually find this to be extremely convenient.

I've been working on a scenario where players have to deal with getting shot at while also dealing with the zombies and I was worried that the enemies with guns and the zombies would prioritize each other instead of the players and BLUFOR.

I did some testing literally just now and I found that the OP4 units, reguardless of whether or not they were zombies didn't attack - they were just "Opfor" units, and they registered each other as such, and for the scenario I'm working on, that's actually perfect because it allows me to sidestep so much other programming and debugging nonsense that hogs the time that could be making sure the pathfinding is correct and debugging other things.

Also a word of help for those who want to complain about setting the civilians to BLU4 so they're attacked - I feel your pain, so I'll share with you something I learned back in 2019:
The "export/import" buttons in loadout editor are your friends! (and also remember to save those units in custom compositions to save yourself from having to do all that all over again!)

I don't mean any disrespect. These are tips and tricks that take a while to figure out and I want to spare others the pain of realizing there's easier ways to climb a cold mountain than with your bare hands.

Anyways, I understand if there are people who want to change it, but I just wanted to shout my 2 cents because this side-grade happened to be super-convenient for me, and I wanted to voice it in case others either didn't know or did, but didn't figure to voice what I had said.

Have a good rest of your day, everyone!
