Extra Landscaping Tools
Mod functions well in most places, but unable to paint fertile land. Solutions appreciated!
I highly doubt this is a problem with this mod, but I think this may be a good place to start the discussion.

I am having a problem using the Fertile land painter provided in this mod. It works perfectly in most areas of my map, but does not work in replenishing the industry farmland area where I am trying to use it. Based on some prior google results, I have already tried removing trees, buildings, and the industry zoning, but it makes no difference. The fertile land painter works just fine in other areas of the map and the ore and oil painters work perfectly in the place I want to repopulate the depleted fertile land. But the fertile land painter absolutely will not replenish the area.

I severely doubt I am running any conflicting mods as I've already done lots of homework checking that out, and the city I'm working in right now uses exclusively vanilla assets so it's not that.

Any ideas or solutions are much appreciated if anyone has seen this issue before. Thanks!

Hey Rowan! Update for you: tried again this morning after a full system restart. I had a new troubleshooting idea overnight. My suspicion is that using the move it mod to delete or move trees does NOT fully remove the forest property from the ground where the tree was originally placed.

With this mindset, I went back into my game and loaded before I had bulldozed trees in the area. I bulldozed the old fashioned way with the vanilla tool one tree at a time. This allowed the fertile land painter to work a little bit, but it still would not paint around the actual farmland buildings or some of the roads. I moved all the buildings and deleted several roads which revealed trees "underneath" them. I bulldozed all those one by one.

This worked wonders. I was able to fully paint in the now "neutral land" with fertile ground. Then I had to put back all my roads and buildings.

My conclusion: MOVING OR DELETING TREES WITH THE MOVE IT MOD DOES NOT ADEQUATELY DE-FOREST THE GROUND. In order to paint fertile ground, you must remove all visible or hidden trees. My recommendation is to save yourself some time and test another bulldozing mod if it would be painstaking for you to use the vanilla mod. Maybe Better Bulldozer adequately neutralized the land? I stuck with the vanilla because it was working. Next time I'll plan ahead and prep an area for farming BEFORE building to make sure I can easily repaint as the fertile ground depletes.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, this worked. I used move it to select only trees. Selected my farm and clicked the move it bulldozer. I could then paint fertile land. TY

Trees are made unvisible when you build something, but they are not removed. So just remove all Trees on the place before painting fertilize land

Hey, you have to remove all the trees, and the natural resource in the area before you paint it, hope it works!
