Feature Suggestion - Credits as physical currency
new question if one of you feel like addressing it, my players are asking if there are any plans for a physical currency. right now they argue, turning all your assets "liquid" is to safe and there is no risk in amassing a large amount of currency.

assuming that a secure storage / bank facility is left up to the players, could there be a toggle for a physical item as currency. Where transactionally the market would function but balance would be calculated based on quantity of a custom mod item stored within owned inventory?

My personal suggestion (if possible) would be take a hydrogen tank, call it a vault and have a custom gas called credits. This would avoid the potential for physical floating object lag and create risk via the oppurtunity for theft, and allow transactions at the market.

im sure you guys get hit up in this way a lot but it seemed like a good idea to me so i figured i would toss it your direction.

There has been a few attempts before at this:

For me, it felt kind of wrong. Space Engineers supposed to be about 60 years in the future, and e-commerce makes a lot more sense considering where we are currently with electronic banking, transferring money around the world, paypass and paywave credit cards.

If anything, I would rather be able to implement a full GUI for our trading system that is interactive.
So you can see your account, and your transaction history.

I for one prefer the current method of using my Pip-boy for transacting. Cash is just so 2020! :)

For reference tho, cash in the real world is known as a "credit note" this credit note is a hypothetical amount of value attached to a commodity held in "reserve" such as gold or silver.

If you require physical currency then - all you need to do is convert all your cash into a physical commodity - ideally a valuable one like Platinum or Uranium. Gold works too if you prefer traditional forms of bullion.

Why would you do this? Well for one if one of the modders out there have a server travel mod that allows you to travel between servers.. at the moment the only way to take your money with you is to convert it into cargo you carry on your ship - then sell it in the market on the new server..
