I think you should make water more white. I have studied a lot of old maps in details, and I can tell you - water in most of them is either white or close.

Even a slight hint of blue will work and look nice. Currently it looks way too similar to the land.

Political map has a slight tint of blue while the base map is almost white

Looks amazing! Would it be possible to make a version compatible with Typus Orbis Terrarum? Sadly I think there would be issues, as TOT alters most of the files you mention. But the outcome would be killer-gorgeous: the map of TOT wth the looks of this mod.
Anyway great work!

It can be, but it would take a bit of work since i'd have to redo the colormaps from scratch again to fit his new map projection. I'll consider doing it if I get the mod in a more... better stage, since right now it's full of glitches that need to be fixed.

This looks absolutely amazing! Now it actually looks like a real 17th century map. :)

Now, for my second suggestion, I would say that political map factions should have more colour. And full, normal dense colour at the borders. Currently they are almost transparent and hard to look.

Most European maps of 16th-18th century actually had bright colours at national borders, even if the interior of the nations were left mostly uncoloured (so that they could write things there).

Yeah, due to the engines limitations thats kinda hard to do, hard to impossible actually. I can indeed increase the density of the political map but for the borders the current version is as much as i can do.

Indeed. I hope you do increase the density of the colours at least, many maps of the time have coloured nations. Not too bright, but a dim, faded colour would be best.

Indeed. Thanks for taking into consideration the idea!
Keep up the good work!

could you perhaps make some of the country colors a bit darker/filled in? it's hard to tell where the borders are when zoomed out
Jethro 11 Sep, 2015 @ 4:39pm
Agreed on the water color - makes it look really awesome! And also with darker political colors, but I love the look of this mod. It's gonna be my go-to mod for sure now!

More intense colours (not very much).

The mod is outstanding, as the others said the map's colors are a little bit too desaturated. More saturation would be paramount because I have trouble reading the other map modes, I can't read the diplomatic map mode without staring at it for a while. Great work, though!

hi,
i wan´t to suggest to change the small impact of defines.lua with changing the way to do: if you use the method of linewise modding instead of replacing the complete defines.lua, the mod will be compatible to a lot more other mods.
its only one line of code - and a big step for all of us. :steamhappy:
