Silencers
Is there a plan on implementing silencers from your side? Would be awesome.

Because I have been using another mod that adds silencers to ORGM and it doesn't work anymore with the new update and in my opinion it renders using weapons useless in most cases.

But thank you for the mod in any case, I really enjoy it. :)

Fenris_Wolf (the new developer) has mixed feelings about the game balance with suppressors. It may be added later on, most likely as a sub-mod.

@TYR, Yeah I know that mod, and i know that ORGM now works with it again, but back when I wrote this the mod was incompatible

Guns are rather fun with no silencers depending on how smart your zombies are. If they can hear really far and follow for a long time they can be troublesome. With dumb zombies and a shotgun plus stealth you can pretty much go to town and never aggro more then a few zombies. Just fire a single shot at a zombie and let it follow you. Once all the adds move to the location of the sound, murder the zombie following you. All the new zombies will move to the source of the new sound. One might spot you but just stay in stealth mode and lure him away and fire again. Wrinse and repeat. The beauty of it is you level sneak and fleetfoot super fast. You can get like four bars with 40 shotgun shells and double xp modifier.

I think you should add it, but realistic - not that much "noise killer" like in video games, just a little bit.

It is easy to make silencers not op. 90% is just too much but 60-70% less noise is okay i think. Or maybe give them some durability so you can use them for important actions like clear buildings or something like that.

I would never fire a gun in the mall for example... thats suicide if the mall is full of zombies inside. :P

Suppressors suppress. The common name "silencer" is a huge misnomer. Suppressors work mainly because the ammo is also different.

Google suppressed weapon videos and you'll see that they still make considerable noise, albeit significanly less distance of sound travel. I would say that you'd definitely hear a suppressed 9mm a good city block away on a quiet zombie day, which is significantlydifferent than bearing it a mile away unsuppressed.

I think it would require a significant overhaul to the ammo crafting, where a new second type of ammo is used for each pistol that adds as a multiplier to the weapon sound, as well as the suppressor attachment.

I'd say factor in the current weapon's sound, and then multiply it about 0.5 with a suppressor and another 0.85 with subsonic rounds. Each item by themselves doesn't make a large difference, but together would be a very great combo, while retaining a significant sound still.

It's not as much the noise of the shot itself, it's the bullet crack of the supersonic ammo. The subsonic ammo would mostly destroy the damage stat of most guns, except for heavy loads like .45, heavier 10mm, heavier 9mm, .44 magnum, .45 LC, 9x39mm, etc.

Some rounds like 5.56/.223 would be louder because their velocities are so much higher. 55gr 5.56 (5.56 has a bit higher velocities and higher chamber pressure but is almost entirely identical to .223, except for 1 or 2 small differences in case dimensions) hits around 3000 fps out of a 16" barrel. The speed of sound at sea level is roughly 1130 fps at 70 degrees F. So you'd have to shave off almost 1900 fps by either downloading the cartridge (lessening the powder charge/changing the powder type) or increasing the bullet weight (which is impossible to sufficiently accomplish with 5.56 because the bullet's size would have to be increased more than reliable feeding in the semi-automatic rifles that make up the main application of the 5.56 cartridge would allow. Thus, the cartridge is simply downloaded and the power is basically that of a subsonic .22 LR cartridge because it has a very similar weight as those..

Ever play Arma? That cracking noise when the Iranians/Ruskies/Greeks are shooting at you (And missing because they are wholly inferior to the USA) is the bullet breaking the sound barrier as it passes you. That crack is just.. Really really loud, yaknow? It's not hearing safe by any means and it's a lot of the noise that is heard from the gun. So if you get rid of that, the suppressor will definitely be much more effective. Suppressors like the Silencerco Hybrid 46 are multipurpose and do a really good job of making multiple calibers quiet. The rating on that is 125 dB for 9mm. It can go up to .308's with 16" barrels and can also suppress .44 mag, etc.

Personally, with suppressor experience, I'd say reduce it by a factor of 70 percent with suppressor and then 85 percent with subsonic and suppressor. It's definitely much quieter with a suppressor and then even more so with subsonics.
