Do you need more than the base game for this Mod?

Looking at picking this game up for my 9 year old son during the summer sale. All he wants to do is use the Play as a dino! mod in single player. Do we need to purchase the season pass for this mod to work, or will the base game alone be fine for him?

nope works fine with the base game, even the event dinos will work.
