It has been many dark nights since your travels began and you feel your journey is near end in these new lands perhaps free from the tainted Geats that conspired with dark things in Herlot, Hrothgar's Mead-hall. Or is that just you giving in to fear and rumours? No...not rumours. You know for true what happened to King Beowulf no matter what the craven may say, and what happened to the Geatlings was suffered by the Wuflings, Danes, Swedes and even as far as the land of the Franks. There is a darkness that creeps across the land and mayhaps it was Beowulf who drew first blood against this darkness but it must not be Beowulf who also draws the last blood, for this darkness that creeps across the land grows in strength with every new moon. This darkness follows your every movement and in your wish to escape it you walked a thousand steps and it took you across the world. With each step taken you found challenge. You met the challenges and you emerged triumphant. But yet something was lacking. You looked back at all you had done, each step taken, each enemy or beast slain – and you saw emptiness. Wanting more you left your lands and began the long journey. Hearing much of the exploits of the nordics, the vikings, the wars of the Geatlings and Danes, and the triumph's of their now dead hero Beowulf, you see clearly foot-steps you must follow for the experience and life you seek.

Welcome to the dark lands that is Eardgeard, the World of Beowulf.

Eardgeard
The home of our mythological world of Vikings and Norse mythology, is the setting for our roleplay, the dark world of myth and legend that is beowulf, legend, and mythology.

When you arrive at these new lands you will:

Choose a race:

- Human [Any alignment]
- Dwarf [Any alignment]
- Elf [Good]
- Jotunn - Giant [Chaotic]
- Corrupted Cannibal [Evil]


Choose a role:

This is the same as a class or profession; For example:

- Shaman | Witch
- Enchanter
- Builder & Artisan Builder
- Farmer
- Breeder
- Blacksmith: Saddle Maker | Armoursmith | Weaponsmith
- Wing Rider (Dragon, Lizard Bird (Ptera), and Argent);
- Archer | Ranger
- Warrior | Shieldmaiden
- Flesh Eater | Cannibal
- Jack or Jane of all Crafts Master of none?
- Explorer
- Slaver [capture & escape role play] - Slavery was a large part of viking society and time period in general, take slaves, lock them into your estate grounds with fences and put them to work however you wish and how your RP allows;
- Sailor


The Roles|Classes of Eardgeard are your's to create. What we have done is to make “templates” for you to use an example of what can be done with a creative mind and touch of RP.

To facilitate our class system, we have re-ordered Engrams into SKILLs and adjusted their point requirement and level of availability.

All classes are “startable” at Level 10 – meaning you will have enough skill points to buy into the class and begin your progression.


* * Mortal Enchanters are restricted to a max Enchantment ability of Mastercraft (tools, weapons, armours)

Character classes require – creative thinking.

The Skills/Engrams are there – you won't be able to master them all, not even close, but you can create something to your liking, even a bit of a Jack of all Trades Master of none, like the Explorer, if you wish.

* certain classes are “special” in that they have no direction except minimalization, like the “Slave”, you can either RP a character born into slavery, or someone forcibly enslaved. If born into slavery your skills probably should have very little after the basic set, along with perhaps the farming skills, and then whatever else you are “allowed” or “told” to get (trained in).
Adjust your avatar at character creation to match the requirements of each race.


We do this so that races may be recognized for what they are at first sight when appropriate, as it is with giants and dwarves. We will not see a human size dwarf nor a dwarven or even human sized giant. All giants are tall; all dwarves are short, and never the twain shall cross.
Begin a life in a 6th century primitive setting steeped in the myth of and mystery of vikings and their mythology.

Choose a side:

Light or Dark? Many shades of grey, or every soul for itself? Battle the darkness, spread its influence, or simply keep your land or farm free of all influences, this choice is yours.

If Darkness is your choice, sacrifice those who oppose the Night Witch Queen by capturing them and sacrificing them in her name to give her power and unleash foul beasts to the roam land of those who oppose you.

Starting Areas

Each Spawn Zone: East 2| West 2| North 2| South 2| – Has a Tavern and Inn open to the public at all times. When you arrive to these new lands, you may choose to stay at a Tavern while you learn the lay of the land, and decide where it is you shall choose to settle.

You will appear inside a Tent (except for one specific zone location because of its proximity to the Tavern/inn). Inside the tent you may fix yourself some hair and gather some fiber nearby for clothing.

Choose wisely. You never know who is near you and who has aspirations of becoming a Feudal Lord of the surrounding lands that you just may live upon. You may find yourself under the strong protection of a benevolent Thane or your throat under the forarm of a vicious Baron whose taxes are far to steep to pay.

A shining beacon of light is ever stalwart in the battle against the darkness. Are you that beacon? Will yours be the kingdom to raise it's fist against the darkness and shield those who live in your lands from the cold caress of the Witch Queen?

Do you turn your back to it all and live your life as you wish?

The only wrong choice is not making one.

We are a RP experience based in the Golden Age of Vikings in the legendary mythology of Norse Scandanavia and the Epic Poem Saga of Beowulf.

We are a 100% Primitive server with Mods.

We are an 18+ RP experience. The 18+ is to let you know that the there is nudity in this world, mature topics, slavery, physical pixel abuse, and more that many parents may not wish their littel Rothgar or Lagertha to participate in. You have been warned.

World of Beowulf seeks to create an RP experience that brings the participant a feeling of realism as they wish it to be defined.

A:WoB Uses the following settings:

- A realistic Night & Day cycle of 8x faster than real time of 24hrs

- Slightly reduced hunger and water depletition for sake of realism.

- Your toiling in the fields will not go without reward, gathering resources is not the best measured use of ones time, and when you find such rarities like oil and pearls, be prepared for filled storages because the harvest is bountiful.

- Vegetables and Fruits last 8 days on the vine before rotting, and many hours in your bags. Grow your veggies to carry and eat at your leisure or can them and they last indefintely.

- Prime Raw meat last hours in your satches, not minutes.

- Jerky lasts 230 days in a preserving bin.

- Preserved eggs last years, literally.

- Taming of animals is faster than normal, what would take 12 hours on Midgard (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ / Vanilla) takes 2 hours on Eardgeard.

- Your personal growth has been both hastened and elongated with a greater number scale. You will feel as though you are living. If you watch your Exp bar like a Hawk, you will feel as though you are dying.
* Here your life and 'experience' is about the trip, the journey, the final destination is just another stop because there are rewards even after that.

- Breeders be pleased that your eggs will hatch quickly - you will not spend hours staring at an egg, but minutes totalling no more than 3 score at most.

- Breeders be even happier that your baby creatures will grow rapidly to maturity. You will not spend hours nor days continuously checking your barns and hatcheries in fear of accidental deaths of starvation.

- War Wagons, Sailors and Pirates - Platforms can hold over two-dozen score of structures making for formidable means of imposing your will upon those nearby and afar and equally formidable in defending you from such ne'er-do-wells.

#1 - Go to Collection; [CLICK] *subscribe to all* mods

#2 - Launch ARK; Look at the bottom right corner of your screen you will see the words:

These are the mods our world uses. When the words at the bottom right of the screen are gone, the downloads are finished.
* If you connection is slow, this process may take up to 20 minutes or longer. Patience.

#3 - Click JOIN and look for the server by name under the "UNOFFICIAL" Tab using the search box filter on the word "Beowulf".

- Right click your Steam Icon in the system tray;
- Pull down to SERVERS;
- Click FAVORITES tab at the top
- Click the ADD SERVER button at bottom of screen
>Enter: 63.143.58.131:27015
>Click: Add This Address to Favorites
- The server name will appear in the list: Click it and click CONNECT

#4 - Friend Me and then go to ARK > JOIN > Pull down Tab > MY FRIENDS - the server will appear.
