Lategame is (sadly) terrible
1. This game usually ends up going on about 20 minutes longer than it really should due to a combination of building HP and more importantly, the placement of the ancient. There's a reason why the ancient isn't located inside the fountain area in Dota and it's because it takes an absurd (and more importantly, unfun) amount of time to clear through a mountain of corpses before you can actually end the game.
I'd suggest to move the ancient out of the fountain area, dramatically drop its HP (it's not vulnerable till everything else is dead anyway - you've lost, lets have the game end) and finally add an anti-camp to the fountain area to encourage people to actually end the game.

2. Killing Raxes stops the enemy from spawning ships. This is bad because it means killing objectives cuts off your income. You're punished for pushing and it drags the game on needlessly because now you have a massive income imbalance in favour of the defenders. I'd suggest chaning it to the same rax system Dota uses - reduce the defenders income and improve the attacks offensive capabilities so that the game can actually end.

3. Specifically the Quedagh Merchant. This ship is plainly ridiculous. I don't have a problem with it's existence at the moment since it's the only way to end the damn game at the moment but still. The cost/effectiveness ratio of this ship is ridiculous - it's hasted, invulnerable and does double damage and it comes online in the mid-game.


Aside from this, the early-mid game of this (HMS Bounty aside but that's another issue) game is pretty great and the effort you guys have put in is incredible. Keep it up.

I agree. The game is very well made, but it really needs some rebalance.

The game is incredible but it's also horribly paced. It takes WAY too long to finish. Without anyone disconnecting this game could easily drag into 2 hours long match, if not more. On average it's more than an hour to finish one match.

There's several ways to fix this though:
- increase gold gain or make items cheaper, so progression is faster
- decrease building hp to make it faster to push
- increase respawn time for ships on higher levels
