Pyrosaur Discussion
So FYI i actually made a hot-take on this 3 years ago, but since ive done a lot of growing up, ive returned to re-address my feelings on my favorite set on the workshop.

Originally, i stated that this item could perfectly work in the game, despite its art style. Looking back at that and knowing how tf2 works, i think my claim on it is misguided. I wouldnt say im outright wrong, but there is arguments to be made in both favors.

In Favor:
-The items texture is detailed, moreso then most other things, but this still gives off the tf2 style, with an HD look.

-Class recognition isnt a good argument here because of items such as the Crocodile and Kangaroo sniper, The all class banana hat, Crow spy head, Notch Head, and Heavy bear head which are already in game and cause little issues with class recognition.

-The concept of a Godzilla esq item set for Pyro is certainly out there, but when you think of it from a childs perspective, a fire breathing dinosaur starts to become more reasonable for what the Pyro represents.

-Because of its cool factor, this item set would instantly become one of the best sets to come out of that years Halloween event (totally not biased)

Against:

-The head and the tail jut out too far from the Pyro, which could potentially confuse players.

-As mentioned earlier, the artistic approach of the item set is rather detailed compared to other items in the game, making it feel somewhat mismatched to the art direction.

-The item set being paintable is not needed and should be removed completely. Its fine as it is.

The are a few yes's and no's that i could come up with just by viewing the item, but i also know that some of the items main concerns could be patched with a little bit of logic. On my earlier post, i talked about how the head shape would not affect snipers ability to headshot. With my earlier examples (kangaroo sniper, Banana Hat, etc) i think its safe to say that the headpiece will not affect players ability to aim for headshots. Vic also did a good job with adding the large spine coming from the back of the head, acting as a "hit me here" sorta thing for players who actually may be confused of where to shoot. For the sake of argument however, i would perhaps push the head closer to the shoulders just as a precaution anyways.

The spines are okay as they are, although i would rather have them rupture through the air tank on Pyros back just to keep relevant to the base model. Although i do understand the implication that the spines are what creates the fire, similar to Godzilla and stuff. As for the tail, i think its tough to really say if that will be a problem for gameplay. In some screenshots it looks very long and in others it looks very curved. I would perhaps shorten it just a tiny bit to play it safe.

As for the hands, to be honest i think they can just be removed completely. Minus the Pyros iconic mask, flamethrower, and air tank, id say his Gloves are another important detail to the color scheme. The hands on the item set are ok, but they dont really add anything to the set, and could easily just be removed, which would probably also be the safer bet for the set anyways.

All and all, i still REALLY want to see the Pyrosaur get into the game. Its been many years since it was created, and many years with no addition, so i think its safe to say its a dead horse. One side-note i also noticed is that Dota's "primal beast" looks oddly similar to this item set, and it wouldnt surprise me if this is where the devs got their inspiration from. My overall opinion though is that although i gave some critiques on what may be better, the item set as it currently is, i believe just barely meets the item standards for Tf2's acceptance, and with that, there is still hope that one day, my beloved Pyrosaur will get added.
