I've played a lot of mods over the years... mods of all types, genres and popularity.

So you can imagine that when I say that this quite easily one of the great contributions to the modding community in general, I mean it. Not just Skyrim, gaming itself.

A superb combination of TES Lore and Lovecraftian horror, I'd like to take a moment to post a rough review for The Forgotten City.

One of the major points of the mod is the atmosphere. Damn, the atmosphere is fantastic. Fine voice work by the cast, backed up by the moody soundtrack, provides an excellent, foreboding feel as the mod progresses, from the beginning all the way to the end. The world itself is designed nicely, just large enough so that you won't find yourself lost in it literally. The personal twist on some environments complements the mystery nicely, and it certainly doesn't cut-and-paste cells from vanilla Dwemer ruins. Quite the opposite actually, as certain areas are a wonder to walk around in, exhibiting a BioShock-like grandeur.

The narrative itself is great as, (thanks to the intensity and atmosphere surrounding it), nothing ever feels "grindy" or dull. It constantly invites you to explore and investigate further and delve deeper into the mystery of the the Dwarves' Law. There are barely any quest markers but the world and narrative has been structured in a way that is easy to navigate. The fact that the developer has gone to the effort of having multiple endings, (apparently, since I've played through it completely only once), is another indication of the extraordinary effort and detail that has been put into this. There is even platforming and a few unique puzzles.

I personally didn't encounter any major bugs, which is another huge plus, but I have heard that a few small issues are plaguing some people.

No doubt you're expecting a number to sum up what's been written but I'd instead like to thank and wholeheartedly congratulate you, Nick, as well as the cast and composer for delivering a fine addition to gaming and the effort it took to do so. Thanks again and you too for reading this, if anyone does.
