Posable Alien Walker [TF2 Invasion Update]
Detonatress  [developer] 19 Oct, 2015 @ 6:33pm
Update of 20th October 2015
We will begin by saying that we are sorry if any inconveniences have happened during this update. Inconveniences such as animation / session breaking. The fix is to download the old model and finish rendering your animation with it. Put the two folders from the zip here into your usermod: https://copy.com/x8Sh3wFxa4K4NPyD

When you are ready to use this updated content, you can take advantage of all the new stuff we've added that the old model did not have. But you will either have to lose the old model or do something to it so that the new version does not override it.

Now, what we have added...
----------------------------------------------
IK Rig support
It allows you to make the robots dance or sway, saves you time with moving the legs and hides unneeded stuff - which you can find if you want by clicking on the gear icon next to your Animation Set Editor and selecting "Show Hidden Controls".
We recommend that you use the code for animation groups found on the Alien Walker model's page for easier control of important groups, otherwise everything will be listed as Unknown.
This IK Rig is compatible with the 2 versions of this Alien Walker model. It may or may not be compatible with the tripod bulb-head Walkers that we plan on adding armature to, soon.
Get it here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=538284630&tscn=1445302600
-----------------------------------------------
Splitting hollow hemispheres (Body Groups)
Strashniy Velikhan has seen Nanori's awesome animation: http://i.imgur.com/iV2PfRi.gifv and he has thought up a way to help him with opening the hemispheres.
So he has made a hollow bodygroup for the hemispheres and placed the bones on the edges so that Nanori could open them easier for the remake of the animation using an IK rig next time.
-----------------------------------------------
Eye_and_Rim can go over the head
Both walker versions have this feature. It was suggested by Pte Jack, so we gave it to him.
-----------------------------------------------
X.Leg.Trunk.1 now renamed to X.Leg.Socket
For rigging purposes & sorting purposes. While the IK Rig cannot rotate it itself, you can rotate them to follow the movement of the legs in case you make the Walker do wobbly animations where the legs clip through the sockets. Use the script provided in the description of the model for easier access to the Sockets.
-----------------------------------------------
Improved animation group script
Replace the old one in your sfm_defaultanimationgroups.txt if you were using the old one.
-----------------------------------------------
Added sharp edges back
As [N-cognito] reported, the old model was messed up after being decompiled. We've added the edges back.
-----------------------------------------------
A more accurate version, the Posable_Alien_Walker_Original
This one has the simpler-looking eye. It does not get light specular and it looks like the one from the game pretty much 100%. It's compatible with the IK rig.
So use whichever version you want, one is cute, the other is accurate.
-----------------------------------------------

Well, that about covers it. Enjoy and state any bugs in the comments of the model's page.

Fun fact, I initially planned on making this a special mod with Detonatress where we would add a sequence and script to allow for these buggers to move around the map similar to the robots from rd_asteroid, or even better have them follow you to have you meet your doom. >:3 Unfortunately, we don't have time for that, so we trust either for someone else to do it, or for this to stay within the creative commons of SFM, or GMOD, if some guy thinks about porting it there.

Yeah, someone better make them try to climb your legs in TF2... and then BOOM!
