Placement of large structures.
Is there a mod to change the view for placing the larger structures ? I was trying to place a mega gate way but the view was just too close to see how it was going to sit. Also the gate viewed from the side only ? Is this a bug or am i just being a noob ? An aerial view and rotation would be really nice .

place your walls first and the gate should snap right in

yeah many games try to Necro the First person game industry only to fail, this game seriously needs to have a fully functioning 3rd person like WOW, Everquest, Landmark ect if they want to survive.

Amen to that , and the bug where dino can still kill you while you are in you base though the wall

Have you tried the default 'k' to extend your view? Sometimes I use an Argent because flyers seem to allow placing further away.

Yeah that's one way i have done it, but it would be nice to have something like a builders view
