IDEAS/RECOMMENDATIONS Thread
Hey guys, wanted to create a thread for ideas and suggestions you have for my mod! Anything you would like to see added, just ask and I will add it to the list. If its something that fits in, is something people want and I have time, it will eventually make it into the game. The Drawbridge started with a suggestion from a friend a while back. I'm always looking for new ideas to add to the Castle based content.

Minor suggestion based on fitting in with modded servers. The cost on the material is very high. Based on your idea of 1 foundation taking up 4 normal foundations, would it be possible to just make it 4 times the cost of a normal foundation?

Currently I'm trapped in moving my 6x materials up to a higher # to work a little better with the mod, however then it is overkill for normal building or leaving it as it is and making it very difficult to build the Advanced materials.

My foundations take up the same space as a 4x4 square of regular foundations. That's ten times the cost of sixteen times the space.

Perhaps decrease the texture size so that it tiles more, the large objects make the texture look a bit blurry and stretched. I love the whole mod though thank you for this !

Thank you! I'm still learning about textures and have someone else looking at them for me. Hopefully he can come up with something nice! I can go in and increase the uv in maya to 4x, that might do the same thing. will test that in the morning after breakfast.

I haven't tried that mod as I haven't been able to get on my laptop but maybe some rounded edged floors, walls, pillars and ceilings so that we can build more rounded houses and buildings eg: ancient greek and roman architecture.

Maybe some triangular floors and ceilings so that we can build in a hexagonal shape, maybe some building camo that can be thrown over a small thatch house.

Is it possible to make dungeon that goes underground?

There are currently rounded walls, gateways, stairs, ceilings and two battlements that are quarter rounds. In the video, just after I go up the ladder, I look down into a section that has the rounded parts. You need to place 2x2 foundations to make a large curved wall. I did it that way so that the round pieces would snap to the straight walls to make a lot of different shapes. If you meant something else, send me a pm with a link to some pictures of what you mean and I can look into that.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so. I tried to make a foundation that masked/blocked out the floor and it wouldn't work for me. The best I could come up with was trying to force the players pawn to ignore the ground, but then he was ghosted and basically had no clip through the foundation and everything else. Since that seemed like a huge security risk I didn't go forward with the idea. Basements are still on my wishlist though!

How about a long crimson red carpet with golden fringes for that long majestic hallway that leads to my throne room?

How about wall art? I need wall paintings along the hallway walls. Maybe you could make it some very large framed blank canvas that I could then import screen captures of classic works of art and then image load then onto the canvases. :)

Both of those ideas are currently in my list of things I'm looking at. I have a small amount of knowledge as to what goes into making things dyable but still can't get that to work for my pieces. One idea I had was just taking the basic picture frame they have in the dev kit and making a nicer looking frame for it. For release I had mostly the bigger stuff completed but have plans for decorations like tapestries and things that make your castle a home. The hardest part is coming up with large, detailed pictures that have royalty free, commercial use allowable. The two rugs I put in were photographed from real objects so I only needed to get the photographers permission for those. Always on the lookout for more:)

Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to make a version of the main wall that have no colision and snap from the top under the straight battlement. And a version of the straight battlement with removed fondation check.

That would be awesome to build water dino pen since we could make a large square with the battlements floating over water then snap the wall under it. The no colision alow to bury the base of the wall into the ground. At the moment I m using the mod castle in the sky to do the same thing and making double sided walls all the way to the bottom underwater, it work well but the item count is high and it kinda kill fps to have 2k items used for the water dino pen only.

This could also be used to make wall around towns with the top of each wall at the same heigh since they would snap from the top under a floating battlement instead of building it the other way around.

The way it work with castle in the sky mod, is we make a structure to suport the the first ceiling, then remove the structure. The ceiling stay floating in the air since it dont need foundation support then can build under it till it reach the ground.

Again this would be awesome to use your big wall instead of this technic since for each of your wall, it take 5x in heigh to reach the same heigh and to make it look ok, we need to use double sided wall so that s like 40 normal sized wall for 1 of your's.

Anyway just trowing the idea, either way i realy like what you did with this mod and we having a great time playing around with it so far.

Also castle flooring with grass and small stone would be awesome to make courtyard similar to this http://system-x.info/wp-content/original/2009_01/chirk_castle_courtyard_and_clock_hdr.jpg

How about expanding your statues a bit more. Mabey have greek and roman style statues. Of figures like Athena, Mars, and Aphrodite.

This mod is really good but did you think that lvl 70 is a bit too high to get it?

Actually the idea that Denis has fixes the basement issue, because you are creating a of landscape, that you could remove the centre, line it in basement to the level of your created landscape. Make a rough rock wall at the edge of the landscape for the look of a cliffdrop off... since at this point you can't add your own moat.

You can kind of create a moat. I built a base, (screenshots are in my steam profile), at a small pond on the island and was able to use the foundations and full steps to add garden pools to my castle so a moat would be doable with the drawbridge. I do like the ideas for the grass and gravel. Might have something for tonight's patch.
