Upcoming wall topper barricade
If you are planning this to be the full width of the wall, it will not be useful for issues like barriers for the quarter celing with curved steps, as there would be no opening for the top of the steps. Unless you plan to make 2 versions with step openings on either end. Something to ponder.

The wall topper will be like a 1 foot tall piece with the same footprint as the wall it snaps to. It shouldn't obstruct anything past the width of the wall.

I think you are missing the point... maybe a screenshot will help

I want to put up rails (barriers) around these edges. In this case, there are no walls beneath these ceiling edges, but in the past I had column supports there. If the "barrier" peice, is the full width, there would be no opening for the steps.

I have a directionally challenged tribemate, that likes to fall off anything she can, so I put up rails all over the place.

What can be done in this situation?

I definitely was missing the point! I can make two different ones. To get them to snap at ceiling height I will have to make them a wall, but I can make one to cover a whole wall and one to do the width that you need. I believe both steps are the same width so that would also work for them as well. Thank you for the great idea!
