Yes half heigt snap to do basically what attaching a vanilla ceiling to a vanilla foundation does. except maybe not 2 out cause they are rather big. As long as they are touching a foundation you should be able to go atleast 1 out. Numerous mods use this mechanic in fact all other buildign mods I have tried. I also wholeheartdly beleive that If you can place it you can pick it back up. I will show you why.

23 hours into my castle build I get to the dowsloap side of the project and even though i built it on single player and the build fit up there well I must have been a smidge off in laying the first foundation because even though it looks like it has plenty of ground to grab and I have built off less,,, Foundation will not snap there. Now I can destroy all 17 foundations and get enough to start over with 8 or wait till you implement a way for a half foundation to snap. Or if there were a way to pick it up and adjust the starting center tile a smidge so they all fit.
