Would this make it possible to create stadiums without having to cut the model in pieces?
boformer  [developer] 18 Nov, 2015 @ 1:29pm
no. you have to cut it in pieces.

But then you "connect" the pieces with the xml file, so that it work as a single piece.

The international airport from after dark uses this feature.
The pieces can also overlap, like in this picture. And you can use them multiple times:

Ok, yeah I reckon as long as players don't have to put the pieces one by one. That is a great progression :). Can't wait for large central stations then

I have a problem. The asset that I made locally works fine. Both pieces are connected. However, when I upload it to the workshop then download it, they aren't connected. I made sure that both pieces and the xml file were in the content folder when uploaded. What am I doing wrong?
thebigeasy66 11 Dec, 2015 @ 2:57pm
Did some more testing and it seems like the downloaded xml file isn't working, assuming it was even downloaded. Is there any way to check if the xml file was successfully uploaded to the workshop?

EDIT: Found the downloaded xml file. Apparently I have the name incorrect. Still testing....

Can you send me a zip of your crp + xml files?

Still testing... I might've fixed it. We'll see shortly

OK it works now. I just had the name wrong the the xml file. I'm going to redownload it just to make sure.

Of course, as soon as I ask for help, I get it to work!

Hey there! Working on making my Tyrell Building being bigger, but got a question from the guide: You write:

"The <SubBuilding> tags represent the sub-buildings. Enter names and the values you used in your modeling application (position and angle). Note that Cities: Skylines uses a different coordinate system than Blender (Y is up, + is sometimes -)."

- Does it care what name I used in my modeling application? Mesh/Object name? Or you mean file name exported? Also any final verdict on rotation settings and scale in the blender fbx exporter?

- And also, should the objects be rotated in Blender? or can they all have same orientation 0,0,0 just that the mesh is rotated so it fits? Added you on steam if you would have some time for me :)

Here's the project in question btw: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=599422531

I'm having a problem with connecting paths across different sub buildings.

As you can see here, the point between the paths of the two different sub buildings lower the ground for some reason. I will continue to try to fix it, but I wanted to see if you encountered a similar problem.

EDIT: Disregard this. For some reason that only happens in that exact spot and not all the time.

Question about Uploading to Steam.

I'm currently working on a project that has 2 sub-buildings. It works fine locally on my Computer but when I upload the project to the workshop and test it out; none of the sub-buildings are attached to the main one. The sub-buildings still appear in the Asset list in the Content Manager, but they are not attached to the main building when placed in the game. Any ideas about what has happened?

did you read the "publishing to workshop" part of the tutorial?

Yes I have. I'll attach a link to images of the .xml files sou you can see if anything is wrong it that helps in anyway. If you need anything else just let me know.

Wanted to know if I am required to use Sub-Buildings Enabler if my building will be on 13x12 base size? As I read in tutorial this is the one of limits for size. So if I understood it well, Sub-Buildings enabler is not required this time, right?
