Bugs Go In Here: Episode 3: Revenge of the Bugs
Reporting Issues

This is where bugs go! I appreciate any and all bugs, no matter how trivial they might seem. My goal is to end up with a campaign that seems as polished as the ones released by HBS, so if anything strikes you as wrong, I want to fix it.

If you’re reporting a typo, including an exact quote with the typo would be best. Screenshots also work fine. Or just give as much info as you can remember about it.

For graphical glitches (clipped objects, ugly lighting, etc.), screenshots are really helpful - you can upload to a service like imgur[imgur.com] and paste the link here. Or just describe where you noticed the problem and what you saw.

Finally, for actual functional bugs (game freezes, looping dialogue, missing rewards, anything else that impacts gameplay), the single most helpful thing for me is steps to reproduce. Try to be as detailed as possible: where you were, what you were doing before the problem occurred, and what happened after.

Thanks! Running into bugs sucks, but by taking the time to report it, you're helping to make a better game for everyone who plays after you.

Known Issues

Crew Portraits Do Not Change in Crew Advance UI

This is a cosmetic glitch, but you should still be able to switch between characters and make your selections. After you have selected and confirmed your upgrades, the portraits will switch properly and you can view their stat gains.

Crew Items Duplicated in Stash

This is an engine bug, also present in the base Hong Kong game. It seems to occur randomly before certain runs. It shouldn't cause any other problems.

Mind-control spells may not work

This impacts spells like "Mind Wipe" and "Confuse". Several players have reported that the spells sometimes do not work. The same issues were reported in the base Hong Kong game, and seem essentially random - some players encounter the bug, and others do not.

Limited Music

There's some recycling of music between multiple maps. Harebrained Schemes removed all of the old music from Dead Man's Switch and Dragonfall from Hong Kong, and many of the (excellent) Hong Kong tracks have a strong Chinese sound which is not appropriate for this campaign. I did the best I could with the few tracks available to me.

If you're looking for some other cyberpunky music to supplement this run, I recommend Invocation Array[invocationarray.bandcamp.com], The Glitch Mob[soundcloud.com], and Fever Ray[soundcloud.com].

Old Issues

The first two bug threads are still available in read-only mode. I believe that all issues raised in those threads have been addressed as of version 0.7.6. If you previously reported a bug and still see it happening in the current versions, please re-post it here.

I am not sure if it is from your campaign or just a problem with the game itself, but Dorbi's mind wipe doesn't work, I keep trying to use it, the enemies keep attacking me despite the fact that they are supposed to be ignoring me.
cirion  [developer] 20 Jun, 2016 @ 7:31pm
@WolfWhiteFire: This seems to be a bug in the game engine; here are a few other examples in the base game 1 2[www.shadowrun.com] 3[www.gog.com] 4. That said, it's always worked for me when I cast it, and nobody seems to know why it bugs for some people and not others.

One other note - a few enemies are specifically immune to mental attacks like Mind Wipe and Confusion. This includes most bosses, plot-critical characters, and non-living enemies like drones. In these cases, you'll see the text "Immune" when you cast, and they won't get the "Mind Wiped" status effect.

Well I did have the mind wiped status appear on a drone though like everything else it ignored it, also it had no rigger, but I have also used it on many living generic enemies, example, the Lone Ranger (or whatever they are called) Interceptors, in the caper itself I tried using it on some of the beasts attacking the mage companion you get, and a couple of other situations.

Hey!
I think I got one
Bug occured on a run The academic-industrial complex
it was a combat with gargoyle but their models were like statues
here's link to the screenshot

@gerraklid - Thanks for the report! That is a bug, but unfortunately I don't think it's one that I'll be able to fix in my campaign. It seems like the gargoyles got messed up when Harebrained Schemes ported them from Dragonfall to Hong Kong, and sometimes they stay stuck in their block form. Fortunately it's just a cosmetic issue, and shouldn't affect the actual fight. I may eventually replace them with another enemy type, but in the meantime, they will be occasionally-weird-looking statues. Cheers!

Hello again
think saw a tiny typo while reading dev commentary on the 1st council
3rd line of the screenshot
"are" doubled
here goes the screenshot[imgur.com]

@gerraklid - Great catch, thank you! Will fix that in the next update.

Dunno if this is necessarily a bug, but I've been getting absolutely brutal slowdown in outdoor areas, which is strange because I've never experienced anything like it in the core game. Indoor areas work fine, it's just street scenes that grind to a halt.

My computer is fairly old (2010 Macbook Pro, 2.4 ghz dual core, 4 gigs ram, NVIDA GeForce 256mb graphics), but again the core game runs great. Any thoughts?
cirion  [developer] 14 Jul, 2016 @ 5:49am
@Ashoka. You ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Idiot: You can try unchecking the "HD Textures" choice in "Settings". This has a minimal impact on graphic quality, but can significantly boost performance. You can play around with other options there as well (disable anti-aliasing), but HD Textures seems to be the big one for people encountering slowdowns. (Note that this won't affect you on an in-progress scene, but should activate if you restart the current level or move on to a new level.)

If that doesn't help, please let me know which specific scene(s) you've been getting the slowdowns in, and whether it's constant or if it seems to be triggered by certain events (e.g. visiting a certain area of the map, reloading a saved game, etc.).
Prandroid 14 Jul, 2016 @ 6:56pm
Okay so this is weird but turning off HD textures did nothing, but after I toggled it back on the slowdown disappeared. I have no idea why that worked, but it did. Just one of those things, I guess. Thanks! Hopefully this also clears up the issues I was having with Antumbra, because I really wanted to dig into it and was stymied by the mystery slowdown.
cirion  [developer] 15 Jul, 2016 @ 8:49am
@Ashoka. You ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Idiot: Cool, glad that (eventually) (sort of) worked! Hopefully that helps with Antumbra as well. You might also want to take a look at the FAQ section "Troubleshooting: Eclipse is too dark" for a solution to performance problems inside the Eclipse nightclub.

This isn't a bug, but I was wondering what the names and artists of the music tracks are that you used for the UGC, especially the club music. I'd love to pick them up
cirion  [developer] 15 Aug, 2016 @ 11:51am
@Vocarin: Sure! All of the music within the game is actually repurposed from the base Hong Kong game. All of it was composed by Jon Everist. I think the two club tracks I used were "Club 88" and "The Plastic-Faced Man". You can find them on bandcamp[joneverist.bandcamp.com] if you'd like to listen or pick up high-quality originals.

The song I used for the promotional trailer is "Overdrive" by Invocation Array. There's a bandcamp[invocationarray.bandcamp.com] for that, too!
Silverace99 1 Sep, 2016 @ 12:11am
Hi Cirion, first of all great UGC....the story and characters are a blast.

I'm here to report a bug i'm finding with Persi....when Persi has her shotgun selected and you click the portrait of an ally to switch control to that ally, instead it acts as targeting and Persi performs friendly fire against that ally with her shotgun. And she is damned deadly with that shotgun...I've reloaded many a quick save for this :)
cirion  [developer] 1 Sep, 2016 @ 10:22pm
@[Oldf] M373oraFr34k: Thanks for the report! I think I've finally figured out a good way to handle this. I've split out her drone abilities to the cyber menu instead of combining them with her shotgun. This should significantly improve your teammates' mortality rate. The fix is in the new version 0.7.8.

If you're in the middle of a run, you might see her drone abilities disappear, but she'll get them back at the start of the next run. Cheers!
