Burning Night
Burning Night - Review by Endless
★★★ 3/5: Outdated but still decent

For an old campaign (relatively speaking) it has managed to remain decent enough to be playable over time, however, it has certain negative features that can impact the experience between players.

Starting with the visuals, we have a good example. The maps look good and have an attractive aesthetic. The combination of night and dawn with burnt areas and orange lights blends in nicely. On the other hand, the maps are a bit empty and the detail is rustic, and you can feel the weight of time on it. Despite this, the maps have managed to survive thanks to a design philosophy that lays the groundwork well, offering decent quality.

The gameplay, sadly, feels much more dated. The difficulty is artificial and is based on throwing as many hordes at you as possible. This isn't a big problem per se, but it gets super annoying when the spawn points are right inside the saferooms. It's a lazy and boring way to create challenges. Practically all maps are like this, and it can be a bit of a ball buster.

What surprised me the most is that, despite being a full campaign, it's incredibly short. First time players, taking their time, will probably only take about 25 minutes to fully finish it and explore the maps. If you rush it you can finish it in 15 minutes or less with good players. It is extremely short so it ends up leaving you with that feeling that you didn't fully enjoy it.

It's a decent set of maps, that's for sure, but it's not among the best, and it hasn't aged that well.
