Open your inventory with cheats then I + X I think is the right combination to give yourself gold.
I personally am open to cheating but fro some it can ruin the game.
Either way if you lost less than 2000 then I recommend you just carry on, also you only get the main pot if you are the #1 player, i think companions count, too but human memory is dynamic and unreliable.
I restarted and hired merc squads instead of companions and they seem to fare much better in combat. However when I ask to see their equipment they seem to all share 1 weapon???
Does this mean if I replace this 1 weapon with a better one then they'll all get one because magic?
I had a bow and arrows, 1h sword and polearm by default.
I ditched the bow and arrows and equipped a shield but he refuses to use the sword and shield at the same time?
How can I get him to do this? I've tried mixing up all the different slots and even unequipping the polearm (I'm using mousewheel up to change weapons) but he just refuses to use the shield.
Never happend to me, make sure you didn't mess with your bindings.
I haven't changed any bindings but I discovered the flaw:
It seems the controls are different in battles and the crappy "getting ambushed in towns while visiting the merchant" mechanic.
In battle, sword and shield are automatically equipped and you use mousewheel up to change, but in town mousewheel up changes the weapon and mousewheel down takes the shield on and off and the shield is NOT equipped by default.
I'm not sure why things would be completely different in these battles compared to the other battles??
Also, why do I get attacked by multiple bandits in town, yet none of my army is there to defend me?? My character is a trader and leader not a fighter. Is there any way to turn these encounters off as they make no sense? If they made sense within the world then I'd just bring bodyguards with me..
Won't mods disable achievements anyway since they basically alter the core structure of the game?
Note that if your companions like you, they will help you during ambushes.
Also the reason why your shield isn't out and in battle mode is because you got ambushed - that's the part about it, you didn't expect the bandits there so you weren't ready.
Mods don't disable achievements unless using a seperate launcher or you have cheats on.
Ok that makes sense. 2 of my companions have started backing me up on ambushes (the strongest 2 - I guess the game decides this based upon combat strength??). And I guess 2 is the limit as when I do prison break and get the lord in my party then one of my companions disappears (he is replaced by the lord I guess??).
In terms of achievements, this mod requires that we launch the game from WSE. Does that mean that it's impossible to get achievements with this mod?
What parts of the mod require WSE? Is there a lite version where we can still get achievements?
Also, there is an option in this mod to allow AI to use lances but they don't actually know HOW to use them and will sit still on their mount and try to stab people instead of doing hit and run (Missy Floris (yellow 20k knight) is notorious for this and she is usually the first to die as she tries to tank with the lance even with AI ability turned all the way to max).
I'm getting better at the game and started a new character that is a fighter so I can practice the combat. I had to turn the AI ability down to low, but I'm able to score almost 20 kills in the arena now with a 2H (previously I'd be lucky to get 3). Though I would prefer to be able to bind the different strikes to keys instead of swinging the character's head around to perform different attacks
eg. F for fast attack, Q for overhead strike, or even just a hotbar with 1-10. This would make the game MUCH more user-friendly. Also, being able to see troop command options onscreen instead of playing guess and remember or having a hardcopy in front of you.
Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with the mod despite some things not being user-friendly; I'm putting up with the silly and frustrating parts to enjoy the good parts.
A couple of things I've found really tedious which are really ruining my enjoyment:
Releasing prisoners to farm honor - select prisoner - talk - click - feel sorry - click - repeat.
Can't a leader talk to a group of people instead of talking to people individually?
- it would be easier and it would also make more sense within the world.
Also, moving a castle's prisoners to the garrison is a similar pain but even more painful.
Instead of dragging and dropping or a dialogue to move all from prison to garrison I need to recruit them all individually, then talk to them all individually to get them to join me (which puts my morale at 0), then move them all back to the garrison.
If I have 400 prisoners then I need to repeat this long chain 400 times.
Please fix this.
Secondly, empire management is difficult without a GUI. I can't see who is on missions to where or what recruits are training and coming in from other lands and to which castles.
I can request a message to be sent to a lord but I can't simply see a list of lords and their stats in a spreadsheet to see who actually likes me and who does not.
Everything is done through menus upon menus upon menus and no information is given to the player to make informed decisions. This results in many players just completely ignoring these systems because they're not user-friendly enough, and just going on a rampage, because it's the only time you can actually see what's going on.
I'd love to be able to conduct diplomacy and work my way to the top without fighting but at the moment it's just too tedious to go through all those menus to make uninformed decisions. How am I meant to remember each individual lord and each individual fief and who they all belong to and the individual standings of all the lords? It's not possible - you need to give the players some clue as to what's going on in the world when you ask them to make decisions.
