With step 10 when you say to put the eample eye texture which i used next to $iris, i went back to add a string and typed $iris again and pressed space followed by the example eye texture but nothing happend, i just have a black and purple squares in replacment of the eyes which i have had since i put $iris into the box in the first place (sorry if theres a very obvious reason behind this, i'm very new to SFM)

It could be that you simply have an extra "space" after the iris texture's name. If that's the case, all you'd need to do is press backspace once after the name of the iris texture, and that should fix it. If not, I can make a picture tutorial on how to do it. Also, make sure you're not using these: " " at the end and start of the iris texture name. That could also be the issue ;v;

i found the problem i think, i was putting the eye texture in the wrong place, just adding it as a new string, i clicked the plus button on the eyeball and found the $iris i added and put the eyetexture next to it, but yet all it did was give the standard i eye color back, i tried multiple textures and put a space in and then tried having no spaces but yet i got nothing. And i didn't put any " " in either

That's strange - I always test out all my eyes before publishing them, and they all work perfect for me! It might be an issue with your PC/Download. Try resubscribing to the eye textures and see if that works. You could also send me a screenshot of the problem - maybe I can get a better idea on how to fix it.
