I have chosen SCars over ordinary vehicles due to more configuration options and ease to use. They also offer end-users the ability to mod the cars themselves in-game. I'm aware that they don't behave realistically, but then again some people prefer more arcade-like driving model. I think they're fun to drive - it's a matter of taste. Sure there are some performance quirks to address, but I'll get to it eventually - I'm still figuring out some variables.
As for the models, you're totally right, they're sometimes nothing like the real thing (Crown Vic). However, I thought it's good to have an alternative to extremely detailed vehicles of TDM, LW and SGM series. They may be useful to people with lower-end computers or for gamemodes where vehicles play a role, albeit a minor one. I have to say there's also this nostalgic feeling, especially when HP2 was one of your most favorite games. By the way, the odd-looking parts you mentioned are places where different UV coordinates meet, I'll need to fix it directly in Blender.
Advanced shaders and vinyls are a good idea, however, I intend to use them later while working on more detailed models from NFS Undercover (if everything goes as expected, that is). I use separate skins with HP2 cars to stay close to the original. Like I said before, I will probably add one colorable skin for each of them to offer some variety.
You're also right about the wheels, I'll have them fixed in the next update for each addon.
