Stargate Worlds v3.0
Would it be possibble to add balancing?
Cool Mod and very nice models/animations.

But I would like to ask if there is a way you could add some balancing methods(by way of server conf maybe?)
Because once you have build to portals(which is not thaat expensive in my opinion) you can bascially instantly teleport huge amounts of mass around the map FOR FREE.

I thought of maybe having an other generator which uses a lot of fuel per time you open the gate and increase cost of or even add an option to remove ZPM. Maybe add Naquadah (http://stargate-wiki.de/wiki/Naquadah) as a really rare resource to make the ZPM?

Alternatively add a server option to use up the ZPM for now. (Would be easier to implement, wouldn't it?). I know that is not realistic and not how it works in the series, but i think it would be ok for balancing until we get a better option.

I would really apreciate some solution, becuase I'd like to play with that mod on our server but we agreed, that it is to unbalanced as it is.

No one likes a running simulator, as it is you still have to get the materials to build the stargate, is that not enough balance for you?

I did it to save time on my Valhalla server.

As admin you can do this :
- Hide stargate engram
- Ask your players something like, 10000 iron ingots, and tell them to bring that resources to you
- You giveitem 1 stargate to them

So you control how many resources they need to get that item.

As modder we cant make the resources modular.

Ty for that quick answer
ok that would be an option. Thank you.
But if possible i'd rather have a way to "charge" people using the gate every time they use it.
I don't want to make the recipe itself more expensive, but maybe as I said the portal could consume the ZPM? (If that's possible with mods)

@Dragonlord That's correct but you got quetzels and so...

I will check if its possible to have durability on this item, not sure

What i do for my server is what Oxxy suggested.

I spawned a gate for every tribe and they will have to give me ingots.

After that i placed 4-5 public gates around the island.

I noticed that the players only used the gates to move dinos or heavy items although they have the means ( dragons , quetz ) to do airborne.

For what i see, the Gates are there as a public-service.

They are not exploited as the players do have other means of transport should the gates fail.

Or if Oxxy could in a way, have an item placed in the inventory before the console would work, maybe 10 ingots, similar to other fuel-required objects.

But if decided to have a 'payment' scheme, its best to have as an server option.

Yeah sure I dond't want to ruin it for all of you that don't want to pay regulary.
@Oxxy Thank you verry much. Aprecieate your work.

I just wanted to add this is the method i use except i dont sell the gates. I simply place them around map at the obs and a couple other spots and of course my event and arena area. I only allow players to place the rings.... so they still got to travel a bit to use a stargate but it still makes it easier when you're trying to get that huge giga all the way across the map.

i am adding to my server and i have the selling mod, so i think the best way is to hide the engrams and make it cost a lot of money to make it more end game. but i would say stuff like this should take at least 12 hours of getting resources (on a 1x server) to build one, as its more end game ima, but cool mod :) and engram should be the highest char lvl to learn, i think thats lvl 90 area.

I'm not so much concerned about the onetime cost. But rather about the running cost.
