True Concealment

Being discovered early in stealth idea.
I really like the approach of this mod, only issue I really have is if a player is discovered early in concealment, they could be at a disadvantage that could fail the mission since they would be missing the turns they normally would have otherwise.

An I idea I have is what if the timer ticked in the background while in concealment till it hit your already adjusted numbers.

So lets use a rescue mission as example. In base game it is 13 rounds and in True concealment it is 10.

Well right when you start the mission, the timer is secretly going from 13 but stops at 10 until concealment is broken. This means if say I was discovered in the in the 2nd turn, I would have a counter of 12 instead of 10, but if I was discovered in the 5th round, it would still be 10.

It's too non-intuitive, I think. It wouldn't make sense why the timer would jump up suddenly from 10 to 12 if you got caught early.

And if a player ends up getting caught early in most cases they should be at a disadvantage. The only issue I take up with this is that spawning is kinda weird sometimes and you end up with enemies spawned just out of vision, and you run into them even if you inch up.

I would suggest a randomized timer so that sometimes you have plenty of time and can afford some risky manouvers and sometimes it woul dbe really tight and you would have to be very carefully.

Good idea for a mod, Tiger's Eye. Although I don't think you'd be very popular for it ;D Hands down this will be part of the Longwar team's overhaul, if they're allowed to do one.

There already is a mod which allows for randomized timers and people actually like it.

I just recently activated this mod to test how the timer changes work for gameplay, and my resolution is they are actually quite fine...most of the time you can get the 2 turns out in concealment phase, 3-4 if your realy stealthy and of course depending on spawn points. But it plays out quite well.

I think the real trick would be to not display the timer until you are discovered. You don't really now what their reaction time is going to be until you set off the alarm. Then its just a matter of handling the hidden count. The player will never know the difference, and it maintains the balence for all situations.

Yeah definitely, I was doing flawless one after the others and then on one last timer mission, I spotted a pod, carefully moved in order to avoid its detection and it happened that where I placed my soldier, that pod was actually there and not where I saw it initially. 4 soldiers got wiped out as they were in the open and I had to retreat...
