Using Discord instead of TeamSpeak as a free alternative?
I found this website called discord "https://discordapp.com/" that's like Teamspeak only you don't download it and it's so far free when making severs, anyway i could use this for TFR instead?

they are working on a offical api atm (read here https://blog.discordapp.com/official-api-roadmap-vroom-vroom/) i think it would be great if you guys could some how make a bot or something to support this (since certain people are switching over to discord). + it is a free alternative to teamspeak, as stated above my comment.

The API reference has been released on their website[discordapp.com].

I think a Discord Version would be greatly appretiated as I use it for my community and find it way nicer that Teamspeak.

I think Mumble is the better alternative to Discord
Carboneye 13 Apr, 2016 @ 3:26pm
i looked up Mumble, it doesn't have free servers, infact that's why i asked if Discord is a better alternative

Mumble is free and open-source software, is cross-platform, and is released under the terms of the new BSD license. A Mumble server (called Murmur) is also BSD license

and btw mumble supports "Link to Game and Transmit Position"
you can find it in Settings --> Plugins
but atm not for A3 or TFR

On the other hand, Discord is both web-based and comes as a software package, plus is free to set up new servers hosted by the company.

Ultimately, both have their pros and cons, and both are used by gamers, so it would be great to see both implemented! (easier said than done, I know)

I figured that much since Nkey said

-1 for Discord.

They repeatedly reiterated after this quote that Self-Hosting will never be a thing. This makes Discord a non-starter for me and my group.

Can I ask why? I'm not particularly sure what a self-hosted server offers in the way of benefits, and in my experience so far Discord's servers have been quite reliable.
