[BUG] Mod is way bigger than it needs to be
According to this page you can delete *_ModShaderCache.upk to clear out 85MB of unnecessary junk from your mod. That would cut the size by more than half.

Thanks for the info, however I would rather not delete files from my mod when it isn't causing any adverse effects (other than having to download 85mb extra, which I don't think anyone is complaining about as that is a tiny amount).

The modding tools create this file therefore I'm more inclined to believe it should be there, than believe a small reddit discussion that says it doesn't need to be there. What's more, all my mods have a similar file size for this .upk, again suggesting it isn't a bug (if it's happening 100% of the time it's either not a bug or a bug that needs patching on Firaxis' end).

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. If it comes to light that this can be deleted (through Firaxis confirming it) then I will certainly delete it. But I don't really think it's worth the hassle of potentially breaking the mod because some people on reddit said it was the right thing to do.

It is causing an adverse effect. That file is loaded by the game, significantly slowing down load times and increasing memory usage. If every mod has an 85MB file (and currently, a lot of the voice-packs/model-packs do, due to this bug), with only 12 mods XCOM is already using a gigabyte of memory that's not actually used for anything, with the load time horribly increased.

You can fix it rather easily by deleting the file and allowing it to regenerate. In fact, since your mod is just a voice pack (and thus doesn't even use shaders) you could just delete it entirely without regenerating, with no adverse consequences.

Well as I say, I'm not going to blindly make this change just based on something written on reddit. I will have to do some testing myself and see if it is neccessary. It's late here now so that will be something I do tomorrow.

I hope you understand my reluctance. There's 11,000+ people using this mod. If this information from reddit isn't accurate my mod could break for all those people. These subscribers won't be upset with those people on reddit that got it wrong, they will be upset with me. Hence why I don't want to take unneccessary risks and potentially disappoint the users of my mod.

Rushing into things is never good. I will look into it and test it offline before I decide whether the Workshop version needs updating or not.
