Sorry about that. Which operating system are you using? (Mac users seem to have a lot of issues with these mods)

And is your game up to date? An update was released a week or so ago that fixed issues with voice packs.

Also a very simple fix that has helped many users is to just delete and redownload the files. It seems the downloaded files can get corrupted, etc and this can cause the mod not to work (I've encountered this problem myself, and a quick redownload fixed it!).

Thanks, I'm starting to think it's being on Mac that's causing these problems. There doesn't appear to be any differences between my mods and the mods that work for Mac users (it seems completely random which voice packs work and which don't).

So I'm not sure what I can suggest I'm afraid. I don't have a Mac and I don't know anyone I can borrow one from, so I'm unable to test this myself.

Are you running any other mods at the same time?

Just got the game a few days ago, and immidiately got extremely interested on getting a few cool voices for my guys, on this case, Darth Vader and the Emperor.

However I met some unprecedented problems.
These your voice packs definitely work, but they're extremely loud.

Tried using only those mods, then unsubscribing, deleting files and getting them again, but it stays the same. I also use a dozen of other voice mods, but these are working in balance.

After some initial sound options testing I figured out a few points:
#1 The voice volume feels to be pretty much the same, as when the game starts (before the master volume setting taking place)
#2 Only Master Volume option affects the voice volume, and even then it is out of balance, I can actually even hear the voices when I hit it to zero. When I hit everything to zero. But it does get alot more silent, I'd say the Zero Master Volume would be rather balanced with normal settings.

And yes, I am a Mac user,
Something on your mods are either conflicting with Mac, or my Mac is conflicting with these mods, can't really say which, I'm just hoping you would have an idea what it is all about, though I'm not hopeful enough to expect getting definite resolution.

Thanks in Advance, for whatever the result may be.

Hi Strider

That's unfortunate. Have you tried downloading from Nexus:
http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/352/?

Although this is identical to what can be found on the Steam Workshop in terms of content, the mod on Nexus was built slightly more recently and therefore may produce different results. If that doesn't work I can try building a new version.

I'm no sound engineer and the software available to me is limited, but my sound files are there or there about the same volume as those voices that came with the game. There definitely are some discrepancies, but they shouldn't be as loud as you are saying, therefore it does seem to be a bug. There were some issues with Max/Linux support of mods for a while after launch but they have since been fixed. However the mod itself may also need rebuilding to stop these issues occuring.

If you could give the Nexus version a try, and if the problem persists please let me know and I will build a new version for you. Thanks.

The Nexus mod seems to be a perfect copy of the workshop one, and the anomalies persist.
Checked out 1.4 for also, which showed same results, However the oldest version, 1.2 while technically working as the newer ones, here the sound was alot more silent. Still seems a little bit louder than the default ones, but acceptable.

I Don't know too much about modding, or how the code is assembled, but I was thinking.
Could it be that for some reason, the code and Mac together interprets the sound files to have a default volume, which, when activated by the game itself, plays regardless of the options.
And then the Master Volume adds to it.

As I've tested 3 of your mods and these 3 all have the same result, and are the only ones where I have met this result, to my logic it sounds like, that in the code there either must be something, or it must lack something which creates this result.

I was in a hurry so gonna test out later the rest of the nexus versions as well as the Emperor ones, and some other of your Voice mods on the workshop.

Hi Strider

I looked back and the Mac/Linux issues were resolved in August 2016. All my builds of this mod are from before then so that could well be why you are having these issues.

I have just rebuilt the mod and uploaded it to the Steam Workshop. This should automatically update next time you log in to Steam. If not, try deleting the files and unsubscribing from the mod before subscribing again.

Please let me know whether this fixes the problem and if it does I will do the same for the rest of my mods.

Thanks

Okey, I was already going to write only bad news, but then the last thing I tried proved to be very good.

After following your instructions and testing out the new version, I actually became confused of my earlier results. I do have the feeling that the mod has a little bit lowered volume, but when testing others, I actually can't say anymore. (still too loud though, and on the same tier with others)
It is most likely something on my end and my settings, which I changed alot yesterday.

However, the good part was, that the last thing I tested out was from Nexus, Vader's 1.2b version, and that works out nearly perfectly!
If I had to say, aside from few clips (like the breathing which is loud) in general it is about 5% more silent than the regular voices, with both Master and Voice settings hit to max.
It still isn't affected by the voice setting, so fortunately I can easily just balance it out.

I red the problem section on some other of your packs, and it seems that aside from them being mute, the problem mostly is either too high or low volume.
For some reason my hunch tells me, the reason for that lies in the options' setup,
how the voices are tied to Master Volume instead of Voice Volume... though in that case it should be more universal.
