(i didnt have the voice assigned to any soldier, just had it subscribed)
So did you save your game while using this voice pack, and then when you went to load that save it crashed?
Is your game up to date? A hotfix was released for the game a few days ago that fixed a crashing problem with voice packs. If you could just double-check your game is up to date that will narrow down what the problem is.
Mechanically speaking, this mod is identical to the other mods on the workshop (including my own). The only difference at the moment is that is has fewer audio files. So there should be no reason why this crashes your game when another voice pack does not. I would try redownloading the mod as possibly there is a corruption in the files you have now.
Also the game has a lot of performance issues. Are you using lots of voice packs at the same time? I haven't tested more than 3 or so voice packs at a time, so if you are using more than that it's possible that could cause the game to perform badly (this is just a total guess based on the poor performance of the game).
Are you using any other mods? (not voice packs). There may be something conflicting there if so.
There seems to very inefficient memory utilisation for mods within XCOM2, at least for me. I'll need to raise this with Firaxis support.
I have 16GB ram in my system (win8.1), and with lots and lots of mods & voicepacks loaded it crashes by exceeding my memory!
I have 20+ non-voice mods loaded, and my game runs at 6GB mem usage (which is still quite high).
When i activate, in addition, my 23 voice pack mods (yes, i have a lot :)) it jumps to 11GB mem usage!
Adding more voice packs on top seems to be too much and crashes my game.
Hopefully they'll release a patch to fix that. I guess in the meantime you'll have to make do with just 20 voice packs :P
Thanks for letting me know!
I have absolutely no experience with Macs so I'm not sure how much help I can be.
General advice would be to re-download the mod and see if that fixes it (your download may have corrupted, etc). If that doesn't, you say you had to build the folder for the mods? Are you certain the path is correct? And do you definitely have to build the folder on Mac? Surely Steam should build the folder for you? On Windows the path should look like this:
"[location of Steam install]\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\627246704"
And have you checked to see if other voice packs work?
Only problem though is that the radio filter does not seem to work at all for me. It shows up in the voice roster, but nothing happens when I click the Voice Preview button. If I choose the radio filter and launch a mission he's just completely mute.
I deleted all saved games and started a new one after subscribing to this mod and a mod called "Stabilize me!"
Voice without radio filter works fine tho.
So what I'm going to suggest is to test an old version of the mod out (when the audio was louder). Unfortunately Steam Workshop doesn't let you have several downloads available, however Nexus Mods does. If you head over to my Bob Ross Nexus page and then download v1.2b then that should be noticeably louder. Here is a direct link to start the download:
http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/download/1301
In case that doesn't work, here is a link to the mod main page. From here you can navigate to 'Files' and then choose to download v1.2b:
http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/326/?
All you need to do is copy over your current Workshop files. To do this, locate your Steam install directory (should be something like C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\). Then enter the "workshop" folder, then the "content" folder and finally the "268500" folder. In here are all your XCOM 2 mods installed through the Steam Workshop. There will be a lot of numbered folders in here. I'm not sure if these numbers are the same for all users (they may not be), but my Bob Ross folder is called "627246704". If it is not called the same for you, just open the folders until you see a file called "BobRoss.XComMod" inside. In here, replace all files with the files you downloaded from the Nexus v1.2b mod.
If that is still too quiet for you then we can sort out a new version for you. So please let me know if v1.2b is okay or not.
I've just created a new version of the mod where the volume has been raised. This is hosted over on Nexus Mods here:
http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/download/1645/?
Do the same as before (replace your files in the Steam Workshop folder with these new files). The voices will now show as "Bob Ross [Amplified 7.0]" and "Bob Ross (Radio Effect) [Amplified 7.0]" in the soldier customisation menu. If the "[Amplified 7.0]" part is not there then that means you haven't overwritten the old files.
Let me know how that sounds. I may have increased the volume too much, if so let me know and I'll reduce it :)
