this mod crashes my game (crash to desktop) when i try to load a savegame. confirmed that it's this mod, once unsubscribed the saves work fine. i have lots of other voicepacks that work fine, but not this one :(
(i didnt have the voice assigned to any soldier, just had it subscribed)

I'm sorry about that dimitryp.

So did you save your game while using this voice pack, and then when you went to load that save it crashed?

Is your game up to date? A hotfix was released for the game a few days ago that fixed a crashing problem with voice packs. If you could just double-check your game is up to date that will narrow down what the problem is.

Mechanically speaking, this mod is identical to the other mods on the workshop (including my own). The only difference at the moment is that is has fewer audio files. So there should be no reason why this crashes your game when another voice pack does not. I would try redownloading the mod as possibly there is a corruption in the files you have now.

Also the game has a lot of performance issues. Are you using lots of voice packs at the same time? I haven't tested more than 3 or so voice packs at a time, so if you are using more than that it's possible that could cause the game to perform badly (this is just a total guess based on the poor performance of the game).

Are you using any other mods? (not voice packs). There may be something conflicting there if so.

Actually, sorry, i worked out that its not your mod that's crashing my game.
There seems to very inefficient memory utilisation for mods within XCOM2, at least for me. I'll need to raise this with Firaxis support.
I have 16GB ram in my system (win8.1), and with lots and lots of mods & voicepacks loaded it crashes by exceeding my memory!
I have 20+ non-voice mods loaded, and my game runs at 6GB mem usage (which is still quite high).
When i activate, in addition, my 23 voice pack mods (yes, i have a lot :)) it jumps to 11GB mem usage!
Adding more voice packs on top seems to be too much and crashes my game.

Oh wow, that's pretty bad! I knew the game was poorly optimised but with 16GB of ram you wouldn't expect it to be that poor.

Hopefully they'll release a patch to fix that. I guess in the meantime you'll have to make do with just 20 voice packs :P

Thanks for letting me know!

I can't get the bob ross voicepack to work. ( I have a mac, and I do have to build the mod folder, yet when I test the voice it doesn't work it's just silence)

Hi palmerew14

I have absolutely no experience with Macs so I'm not sure how much help I can be.

General advice would be to re-download the mod and see if that fixes it (your download may have corrupted, etc). If that doesn't, you say you had to build the folder for the mods? Are you certain the path is correct? And do you definitely have to build the folder on Mac? Surely Steam should build the folder for you? On Windows the path should look like this:

"[location of Steam install]\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\627246704"

And have you checked to see if other voice packs work?

I cant get this mod to work. I am on Mac OSX and the voice shows up in the choices but when I click preview, nothing happens. I have it selected on several soldiers and it just results in the soldiers not saying anything at all if they have it selected.

Hi Doc, have you tried the advice I gave to palmerew14 above?
Buddy Jesus 2 Apr, 2016 @ 7:45am
Good stuff! I had a Bob Ross character already, and this really brings him to life!
Only problem though is that the radio filter does not seem to work at all for me. It shows up in the voice roster, but nothing happens when I click the Voice Preview button. If I choose the radio filter and launch a mission he's just completely mute.
I deleted all saved games and started a new one after subscribing to this mod and a mod called "Stabilize me!"
Voice without radio filter works fine tho.

Thanks sAs|Torchen, I look into this! For the time being I'd recommend unsubscribing from the mod (which deletes all mod files) and then re-subscribing. Sometimes files can just get corrupted and that can cause problems like this. If that is the case, simply re-downloading the files should fix it.
Vasya Cobra  [developer] 2 Apr, 2016 @ 2:15pm
Yeah it was an error on my part sAs|Torchen, sorry about that. Should all be fixed once your Steam client downloads the mod update!

Hey tdc733, fantastic mod, but for me it's super quiet. I have a PC, I've tried redownloading it and it's still super quiet even with the soldier voices volume turned all the way up
Vasya Cobra  [developer] 15 Apr, 2016 @ 2:24am
Hey Diesel, sorry to hear that! Unfortunately I get this a lot. Some people say it is too loud so I reduce the volume, then others say it's too quiet so I boost the audio again, and this goes on and on. I've had this happen for this mod 3-4 times already.

So what I'm going to suggest is to test an old version of the mod out (when the audio was louder). Unfortunately Steam Workshop doesn't let you have several downloads available, however Nexus Mods does. If you head over to my Bob Ross Nexus page and then download v1.2b then that should be noticeably louder. Here is a direct link to start the download:

http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/download/1301

In case that doesn't work, here is a link to the mod main page. From here you can navigate to 'Files' and then choose to download v1.2b:

http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/326/?

All you need to do is copy over your current Workshop files. To do this, locate your Steam install directory (should be something like C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\). Then enter the "workshop" folder, then the "content" folder and finally the "268500" folder. In here are all your XCOM 2 mods installed through the Steam Workshop. There will be a lot of numbered folders in here. I'm not sure if these numbers are the same for all users (they may not be), but my Bob Ross folder is called "627246704". If it is not called the same for you, just open the folders until you see a file called "BobRoss.XComMod" inside. In here, replace all files with the files you downloaded from the Nexus v1.2b mod.

If that is still too quiet for you then we can sort out a new version for you. So please let me know if v1.2b is okay or not.

Hey tdc733, thanks so much for your help! I replaced all the files in the workshop folder, and it's still very quiet compared to the other soldier voices
Vasya Cobra  [developer] 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:40am
You're welcome Diesel, it's a shame that didn't fix the problem.

I've just created a new version of the mod where the volume has been raised. This is hosted over on Nexus Mods here:

http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/download/1645/?

Do the same as before (replace your files in the Steam Workshop folder with these new files). The voices will now show as "Bob Ross [Amplified 7.0]" and "Bob Ross (Radio Effect) [Amplified 7.0]" in the soldier customisation menu. If the "[Amplified 7.0]" part is not there then that means you haven't overwritten the old files.

Let me know how that sounds. I may have increased the volume too much, if so let me know and I'll reduce it :)
