Not sure if it's this mod but my squaddie specialist got capacitor discharge as it's skill. Could be a blessing but still. .. odd...

Wow, that's pretty crazy, Ergo. I'm pretty sure it's not related to this mod, though; I'm not doing anything that should affect the other classes.

I didn't even have this mod and one of my specialists got a specialist perk from AWC. (I did have another class mod though, but I think the AWC just picks entirely randomly from the whole list available to it.)

Random thing, not necessarily a bug with your mod but something I found in my game is with the "Overwatch All" mod if I use the group overwatch ability it puts the Infantry into pistol overwatch rather than regular overwatch.

Yeah, I became aware of that through my own testing. From what I can tell, that's an artifact of how the author implemented Overwatch All, because it looks for Long Watch, then Pistol Overwatch, then regular Overwatch. The same issue happens for my gunslinger when I mod them to use an SMG instead of running as a full-on sniper with Long Watch. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything I can do to fix how Overwatch All interacts with pistol-using classes.

I'm not sure if you intended it, but when rookies get promoted, I don't see them becoming Infantry.

Thanks for your report, ristar85. I just ran through Gatecrasher and some early missions with rookies and was able to get a number of them promoted to Infantry squaddies through combat experience. Are you sure it couldn't just be random luck in your case? Also, sorry to have to ask, but are you sure the Infantry mod is enabled in your game launcher?

Regarding "Overwatch All", a little poking around suggests that if you go into the following file:

Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\621695447\Config\XComOverwatchAll.ini

Switch the position of these two lines:

+OverwatchAbilities=PistolOverwatch +OverwatchAbilities=Overwatch

(so that PistolOverwatch appears last) and Overwatch will take priority over PistolOverwatch

It is enabled, and I'm able to get Infantry through GTS. Maybe there's a conflict with other soldier class mod... I'm using Shocktrooper as well.

when used together are causing a serious game crashing breakage. By documenting the problem, I hope to maybe shed light on these two particular mods so it can be discovered why these two are conflicting.
In 200 hours of X-Com 2 played, I've only ever had a similar crash problem with the Long War Leadership mod, which I have since disabled and haven't had a crash problem until this new incident.

As I finish each playthrough of the game, I like to browse and try out new mods while also testing some of my own INI settings too. In the latest playthrough, I happen to have both the Infantry Class and ADVENT recon mods both active at the same time. I played with Infantry Class before and encountered no problems with it being on with any other mods.

However, the very first time I encountered the new ADVENT recon unit on a map in this brand new playthrough, the game would crash at the end of the mission. 100% of the time, and I tested this crash at least a dozen or more times. Every time, crash and burn. This lead me to the conclusion that something was wrong with the ADVENT recon mod, but clearly it was not broken on its own because other people have the mod and have had no such crash problems. There had to be another mod interacting here so...

Thanks to the 'ignore missing mods' mod, I was able to test and see if I could find the problem mod conflict precisely. By turning off 1 mod at a time and retesting the crash, I tried to see if I could find the cause. Not long after, I was able to isolate the exact two mods that were causing the crash. When I disabled one of them, suddenly the crashing stopped! And upon several re-tests, I found that the game no longer crashed and progression resumed normally.
Why are these two mods in conflict? I can't answer that, but maybe if their authors compare notes they can find a commonality that could help avoid future conflicts with other mods.

I video recorded the process in a single, unedited video as proof of my tests. I encourage any doubters to also install both of these mods together, and see what happens when they finish the first mission containing an ADVENT recon unit, which is where I first encountered this crash. I believe both of these occurrences being first time events is too much of a coincidence, and my test seems to prove this. Without the Infantry mod to interfere in whatever way it was, the first appearance of ADVENT recon units no longer was causing a crash.

At 0:09 seconds, you can see both Infantry Class and ADVENT recon are enabled.
At 1:20, you see the first crash.
At 1:57, you see I disable only 1 mod, Infantry Class mod.
At 2:23, you can see I force load without the Infantry Class mod.
At 3:00, you can see it no longer crashes at this point and the mission complete sequence plays as normal. From here on out, no more crashes occur.



Note I did try to disable the ADVENT recon mod and force a load, but that would not load the game at all. Can't ignore that mod when trying to load the game.
Also note that even with the infantry class mod off, ADVENT recon unit overwatch still seems to be functioning incorrectly (not taking shots at soldiers who would normally trigger overwatch)

I am running into an error with this class where whenever I get an infantry up to captain rank the game hard crashes. I have tested this three times and the last test was only with this mod enabled and it has crashed on the post mission return to base load screen each time. That said, this is an awesome class mod and you really nailed the feel of long war's infantry class.

Thanks for letting me know about that crash, kunny391. I'll see if I can force my Sergeant to rank up during this mission I'm on to reproduce it.

LW Infantry is very much what I was going for when putting together the class.

I've encountered a bug with the mod. I have had it occur twice in two different games, I scrapped the first and worth around the second. Everything worked fine until around mag weapons when I got a Gorilla OPs, in both cases. Everything worked fine until I completed the mission and the game would crash as it tried to load into the skyranger. Isolating the problem found it only occured with this mod enabled, disabling it caused everything to proceed normally. I cannot isolate the problem to a mod to mod interaction so it seems to be exclusive to the infantry. Disabling the mod loading through and saving in the geoscape allows me to reenable the mod and play normally. The next mission loaded and ended normally.
