Higher system requirements for some hardware components may be necessary for a better gaming experience. These are higher than the system requirements from when Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator first released.


CPU: A quad-core CPU at the minimum.
Memory: At least 8 gigabytes of RAM.

Storage for ETS2 and ATS together: 50 gigabytes for the base game/DLCs + at least 500 megabytes for the Sound Fixes Pack and additional lightweight mods + 500 megabytes of reserve space for previous game version support on the Steam Workshop.

Storage for only ETS2 or only ATS: 25 gigabytes for the base game/DLCs + at least 250 megabytes for the Sound Fixes Pack and additional lightweight mods + 250 megabytes of reserve space for previous game version support on the Steam Workshop.

Note that plenty more gigabytes may be needed to be able to download game updates as well as other popular mods. For high performance, SSDs (solid-state drives) are more preferable than hard disk drives.


The Sound Fixes Pack will continue to use techniques to reduce strain on the CPU core that FMOD runs on, including:

• Lower channel count to reduce decoding time.
  
• Where appropriate, a lowered number of sound effects playing at the same time, leading to less CPU cycles consumed.
  
• Less FMOD parameter usage than the vanilla game, leading to more optimal performance.
