By the looks of it, he made 3d stuff in tiltbrush and then took screenshots of it and put it on the gun in photoshop

He inserted the whole image in it and made it 2D.

Drew a 3d design in Tiltbrush, then he took that and imposed it onto the gun, and did extra work (fine details, color correction, shadow, etc) in photoshop.
