The mod causes some assets to be totally dark
Hi thale, thanks for the mod!

The roof of this garage, as well as some vanilla buildings turns dark with LSM on.
Even if the material/mesh/textrue options or theme or LUT is off, I still got the problem.

Turnning off LSM solves problem on a new map, the old one is still like that though.

I am gonna test a clean client with only this garage and LSM to completely rule out other possibilities if necessary.

I have had that Garage asset since it was released. I haven't noticed problems with it. But this difference does not surprise me. Most likely, the actual problem is with some asset or mod that you have but I haven't. The game uses shared texture atlases for assets, so assets are not isolated from each other.

If you can reproduce the problem using just a handful of assets or mods, so that I could realistically run exactly the same test here, then I would definitely like to hear about that.

Hi thale! Thanks for your reply. I agree with you that my test wasn't precise, so I just did a minmum test again.

Wtih only two mods LSM and unlock all, I figured out that IFC GZ v3 https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1633845925 togther with the share options in LSM caused the problem. Either one being turned off will be fine. I will turn off that skyscraper for the time being, since your mod is more important. :)

Thanks! With IFC GZ loaded, my test city now has some black vanilla buildings. There are some black buildings even with share options disabled, so the root cause is not sharing.

The game gives a rare error message for IFC GZ:
LOD missing: IFCglass

I believe that is significant. Anyway, now I have something to investigate. Thanks for reporting!

What is interesting is that IFC GZ turns some vanilla buildings black even with LSM disabled. But now the black ones are not the same ones as before but different ones. This explains why, for some users, LSM seems to cause the problem while for some it seems to fix it.

I will look for the root cause anyway because I want to understand it and maybe produce a warning message about such assets.

Solved. IFC GZ contains sub-meshes. One of them, IFClogo, has a weird LOD texture size: 283 x 283. By resizing that texture to a power of two (256 x 256) all black textures disappear. This is with LSM and without LSM.

I plan to add a new section 'Asset errors' to the report provided by this mod.
