Playable Robots

What is the effect of the robot/AI research technologies?
I'm definitely interested in this mod, but I'd kind of like to know what I'm getting into. Am I going to start out crippled like robot pops in the base game, and eventually develop to be slightly better than organics? Do I start out equivalent to any other race, and get all the way up to the buffs the Machine Consciousness gets in their Crisis event? The description says that researching the robot technologies improves your AI pops, but I can't find numbers on that anywhere, and I'd prefer not to play through twenty hours of game only to discover that the campaign has to be scrapped because I'm absurdly under- or over-powered.

Naw, basically you start without the happiness boost, but don't need food. Each robot tech you research boosts your pops with +"s to credits/gems/science.
Fallen empires still get pissy with you if you research the red one even though you ALREADY are sentient / sapient.

you will be absurdly overpowered if you have the robot resource output policy and turtled really hard early on with normal AI. In my experience you should play on hard and try to diversify beyond only robot pops. You dont get the vanilla sentient bonuses but you still get a good bit going. The game does force you to rely more on energy credits.
