Unable to retreive generator from car storage

Hey. Am I the only one who is unable to "grab" a generator after it has been placed in a car's storage\trunk? This is pretty annoying as I was trying to transport it a long distance :( Am I doing something wrong, perhaps?

ive done it before. you just need to clear your inventory so you have enough space to "grab" it
