Weapon Patch 3.0
This is the discussions tab for the 3.0 Weapons Patch! Please give me any and all ideas you have for either EM specific weapons or EM-related weapons.

I am currently accepting ideas for Weapons for individual EM's or More generic-ish weapons for all EM's.

What my current plan for weapon releases are:

Generic EM Weapons: Anywhere from 5-10 (this means you have to have an EM to obtain the ability to research these weapons, Gen 1 or Gen 2 EM allowed)
EM Specific Weapons: 1-2 Weapons (Most likely one guys, we're talking 10 weapons if we do one for each EM. Preferably Gen 2 EM as the Generic weps will fill the void for Gen 1)

Limitations of Weapons:

Sorry team, nothing that includes AOE/unique modifiers to ships/planetary bombardment bonuses (maybe this one but I'd really have to play at it). As I am not familiar with this area of the Stellaris areas I can't do anything too fancy like a swarm disease aoe ship converter weapon or anything of the sorts!

What I can modify and include are:

Weapon Damage
Weapon Fire Rate
Weapon Range
Weapon Shield Pen
Weapon Armor Pen
Weapon Acccuracy
Weapon Cost
Weapon Power
Weapon Shield Damage
Weapon Shield Pen
Weapon Minimum Windup (Minimum time to fire)
Weapon Maximum Windup (Maximum Time to fire)
Weapon Cooldown (It is connected to Weapon Windup Times, Although admitedly I am unsure of how it works with them)
Weapon Missile Speed (This is actually simply time before damage is applied, Default missiles are 5 seconds)



Models/GFX - I am not an artist nor do I own any modeling tools, so while all effects will be different than base game, they will only be modified versions of vanilla effects. On that note I can edit the following things:

Size
Color (I believe)
Duration
Speed
Sound Effects (Base Game only gents and ladies)

I am very strongly against making any missile based weapons simply because they are made differently than lasers and projectiles and I don't want to hassle with them. So Unless you have a hell of a cool idea I will not be making any missile-based weapons.

On that note If you guys have Any ideas to offer throw them out! I'd love to get the brain stimulated to get some awesome weapons out!

I also will include as many of the previously mentioned weapons way back when if I can (Edits may be necessary now that I have a better understanding of what I can do and game balance.)

The People's Bastion:
(1) A Beam weapon that does dmg + drains enemy shields while recharging friendly shields.

(2) A base item/effect that makes the area around the base like a nebula negates shields (kinda like the idea in Star Trek that shields don't operate inside a nebula) - obviously the People's Bastion have figured out a way to operate their own shields in this nebulas effect. This effect could either completely negate enemy shields or cause all weapons to ignore enemy shields was my idea.

For Rift Walkers, best I can recommend is something like an AOE/shotgun kind of thing like Arc Lightning but stronger. Massive fleets tear Rift Walkers apart, and with single target there is no real counter short of hoping they don't have armor penetrating weapons so you can outlast them. 300 corvettes with bonus fire rate focusing fire on the large ships of a fleet of 50 though, no effective counter.

You're doing the ones that you originally suggested, right? Those were good. My only request is that the weapons stay in theme, or preferably counter weaknesses of the EM.

I'd love to see some station-specific weapons kinda in the vein of Halos from the Halo series. It would be amazing to build a station in an enemy system and let it blow up an entire empire. Tho that seems really hard to code lol. Another idea would be something like a cannon-type projectile weapon; great bonus against armor, really big projectile size, easy to miss with it, deals massive damage, long cooldown, and it has a chance to apply the effect that makes ships unable to ftl jump for a certain amount of days. (giant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the hull need to be fixed before you can jump lol). Again, i have no idea about the feasibility of such a thing, but it would be cool to see if you could somehow attach the station modifiers to weapons. (like the allied hull regeneration, or delayed jump time, etc.)

Not sure if you know this yet, but are you aware of the changes in the upcoming Heinlein patch ? Im specifically on about different ships having different "slots" , ie corvettes get a torpedo slot, ALSO the new XL mount.

Maybe each EM could have just 1 unique XL weapon , thats extra flashy and powerful :S

Are those the real stats for the reality ripper? And I thought the ISB Avatar's AT Projection weapon was OP.
