Server restarts wipes everything clean.
Hi, so I got a bit of a problem, I'm working on a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Machinima and I'm using the Butcher's Den map for Leatherface's house, I'm using the unclean one but I still have to add more things inside to closely replicate the movie. I've been doing tests recently and my friend who's hosting said server says he has the sbox_persist 1 on, but yet when I get the map nice and looking REAL good, he'll restart the server for some reason and the whole map will be reset and all my work will be gone. I've checked, double checked and triple checked to make sure I made everything persistent and yet the map wipes it all away. Can you think of anything that made be causing this? I've made several tests and it seems fine with a few things but I'm not really wanting to do this yet again and still have the same thing happen.

Sorry to hear your work keeps getting wiped out. If you're making your machinima entirely in sandbox then you don't need this addon at all - everything should just work natively and you can also use the save function to create a couple of restore points just in case everything does go wrong.

However, if you do need it, make sure either sbox_persist_autosave is set to 1 or you run sbox_persist_save in the server console before restarting.

Alright, I'll tell my friend about that. Is there anything that could possibly be causing problems which causes the server to be wiped? Such as the door tool or weld tool or spawning too many props or rope or entities?

The reason why I need my friend to host a server for me is because an addon that I need to control NPCs doesn't work on single player which is the whole reason why I need a server on multiplayer.

I'm afraid I can't answer that, I don't play Garry's Mod very much any more. I can't imagine how anything would break it though.

I will say though - you can very easily make gmod run as a local-only multiplayer server or install srcds on your computer and connect to that. I tested all my addons doing that, so you might want to give it a try.
