How to Change Soil Fertility!
How to Change the Fertility of the Soil

So, for all of you out there who believe this mod is overpowered or otherwise unbalanced here is a way to change the values using the XML File of the mod. it's really simple actually.

  1. Open the File Directory
  2. Go to the directory
    Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\725747149\Defs\TerrainDefs
  3. Open Terrain_TS.xml with Notepad or Notepad++, or whichever coding software you prefer
  4. Scroll to where it says
    <TerrainDef ParentName="TS_TerrainBase" Name="TS_Tilled"> <defName>GT_SoilTilled</defName> <label>tilled soil</label> <description>Tilled soil, for planting crops properly.</description> <texturePath>SoilTilled</texturePath> <pathCost>5</pathCost> <layerable>true</layerable> <statBases> <Beauty>0</Beauty> <WorkToBuild>85</WorkToBuild> </statBases> <fertility>2.0</fertility> <avoidWander>true</avoidWander> <terrainAffordanceNeeded>GrowSoil</terrainAffordanceNeeded> </TerrainDef>
  5. In the section where it says <fertility>2.0<//fertility> change the number to the fertility percentage you want. Here's a quick key for the typical fertility percentages.
    • 2.0 = 200% - The mod's default fertility for "Tilled Soil"
    • 1.0 = 100% - This is the default RimWorld soil
    • 1.4 = 140% - The vanilla "Rich Soil"
    • 1.25 = 125% - My reccomendation, this gives you a sizeable advantage while still keeping the Rich Soil still relevant during gameplay
  6. Just save the document, and you're ready to go.

There you go, you can all give the author a break now.

Why didnt the author remove this discussion? This is totally against his principles of "basic"
Tupiniviking 28 Sep, 2020 @ 11:29pm
Remove why? You don't want people to have fun? If someone wants 1.000% fert, let them be. It's not like Rimworld is a competitive game of any kind, lul.

Problem is every time he updates the mod it resets the xml file to its original fertility. End playing through half a play through wondering why you're getting so much food before you realize this mod was updated.

In all honesty, this mod author is just a straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and that is all there is to it.

The author uses the mod personally and just shared what he did
It's easy to edit and the mod doesn't update randomly, you know when it got an update so you can change it back before starting a game
The mod is op yes, the mod is easy to edit, the author is sharing something he did for himself so this extremely simple job of editing the xml file is not something you should be mad about having to do come on

So now I even receive hate messages for a mod that adds a single floor to the game.

It's not particularly difficult to save a local version of the mod, or even just the single terrain file, in order to stop my update from overriding your changes.

I'm not sure why you would, but you can call me whatever names you wish. Just do yourself a favour and look into solutions to your problems before calling people names.
