Starbound

Base In A Box
Sometimes no Printer
Hello sir,

First let me thank you for this grand mod.

I used it with much success and fun.

But:
Sometimes,
and it seems at random, i can not copy a piece of structure. Similar to this other Post: " Trouble scanning and creating a printer."

But I on the other hand was able to copy a castle :)

Please let me know what you need for possible advice.
Thanks in advance.
Al

Can you post a screenshot of whatever it is you're trying to scan and also let me know if it contains any items or blocks added by mods? You have a *lot* of mod errors in that log file - a whole bunch of stuff isn't loading properly and some scripts are crashing, so it's possibly some kind of conflict.

I will Post a screenshot ofcourse^^
And about those errors: I had stopped playing for quite some time and i bet some mods are no longer supported. I have to clean up soon.
The strange thing is i can copy a huge structure, where a smaller part of that same structure won't be copied.. I will post a few pictures so you can see how i mostly made it work.

I copied the whole spacestation, which goes roughly three or four times to the right, but this small part won't be copied :)
The ship above i copied.
The small entry for the mech i copied.
I copied a complete Hylotl Town once. You can see that in my Citybuilt^^ All thanks to you. (mostly)
Let me add, that i bet there are modded blocks in there, but i cannot be sure sir, sorry. I have so many mods which add blocks, that i can not be sure..
But next to FU i try not to use mods which change the game, mods which add something are the ones i like.

Steam is giving me errors when I try to view those screenshots, not sure if you've got them set to private or the servers are just acting up but I'll try again tomorrow :)

I had them on private, but hoped, due to steam showing the thumbnails here, that it would work... i didn't want to post those for everyone..^^
But now they should work - please take a look when you got time

Again.. Thanks :)

Yeah, there's nothing in the screenshots that jumps out as an obvious reason why it's failing. Only thing I can think to suggest is try making the scan area smaller and smaller until it works, see if that narrows down exactly what part of it is causing the issue? It's possible there's a block in there from a mod that isn't loading right or is otherwise misbehaving.

Alrighty, thanks for taking a look anyhow and for the last time..^^ Thanks for the mod :)
One question if i may, because you seem to know what you are doing:
Is it rather easy or rather hard to make a boat, which works, or to change an existing boat to make it look, lets say like a hoverbike?
I am asking because i'd wish for something else than those standard boats, but it is not possible to stand and hover on another vehicle next to a boat so one can press buttons...
One modder made a mod so the hoverbikes can hover on water - that was an awesome start.
Can you tell if it would be hard to write a mod which makes a kinda hoverbike which is always on and hovering?
Dr Knifegun MD  [developer] 12 Nov, 2019 @ 11:32pm
I'd imagine it's not *too* difficult to compare the boat/hoverbike files and work out which bits to change but I've not done anything with modding vehicles so I couldn't tell you how it works :)

The secret to modding succes is to just start messing around and see what happens lol

:) Thanks, that*s what i wanted to hear!
I'll mess around then :D
Have a good time for now and see you around^^

Aahamm, sorry to bother you one last time, but due to my negligence i realized just yesterday, that you are also the one to bow to because you are the Maker of the field generator!
So thanks for that also sir^^
(Such a nice design!)

I might have a lead or two on what might be causing the issue {and they might be separate causes?}.

First one might be when both scanner nodes go through node extenders - using two same scanning markers worked when only one was going through extenders, but when I routed the other one through extenders as well, I got the LUA error in log.

The second.... might have something to do with positioning? Basically, when I removed and moved one of them {resulting in a slightly larger scanning area, even}, the scan worked.
