Preferred and disappointing weapons? (+FU etc)
I have an assault rife with grenade launcher, and I've been leaning heavily on the grenade launcher for its precision and big damage, but it's tier 5 and can't be upgraded, so I was looking at some weapons... mostly FU, I think... and wondering what people like and don't like in the later game. The wiki is woefully short on descriptions, unfortunately.

Railgun
I've also been leaning on this for clearing nearby rooms; the alt is nice for getting several shots off before you need to refresh the Zone. It takes setup to use, though... camera look to the max, get far away, set up something to brace you for the kickback. I may end up upgrading it, though, coz I was disappointed in...

Xithricite Sniper Rifle
I like the relatively fast fire rate, but the alt is a sort of energy shotgun that ignores walls and I can't seem to get it to do much damage, even up-close. The primary shots also have a limited range, but it's a little farther than the camera can reach fully zoomed out at 1920x1080 and with camera look, so it's not terrible. That alt, though... unless I don't know something, it's just so subpar. The tier 7 Hail Strike also has this dubious alt.

Xithricide Assault Rifle
The rounds are VERY limited-range; in the same case as the sniper, the bullets will reach about half a screen's distance. The alt is interesting; a bubble that stays where you activated it and does damage to any enemy that touches it. I can see it for run-and-gun tactics or if a big enemy sits on it. I was hoping to replace my main assault rifle, though, and this isn't it.

Chainblade/Massacre
I'm using this with War Angel armor and it WRECKS. I'm trying to play a ranged main, but it's HARD to not use this.

Autocrossbow
I've been using this when I don't need my AR's grenade launcher, but I'm not the best at accounting for the arc of the shots. It has great DPS, though, and gets me loot. I really really wish it had another alt, though; I haven't needed a Flashlight in ages.

Random rare Rocket Launcher with Slow Guided Missile
I love this thing for the SGM, but it takes breathing room to use and the reload is forever. The weapon already has 0.3 fire rate if I'm not using the SGM, but the 2.8 reload means I get two shots and then it's six seconds of nothing. The SGM glows, though, which has been great for scouting dark spaces.

Beam Gun
This is what I'd want in a shotgun... short range, but plenty of damage up-close. The alt fires somewhat wildly, but essentially lays energy mines if they hit a surface... they'll sit there for a short while before exploding, or explode when touched. So a sort of energy shotgun/mine-layer. I like it, but I don't like being up-close, and, if I am... well... Massacre. 'Nuff said.

Could you please return the FU weapon from the weapons store? I know that it is very difficult to obtain it with Neutronium but it is an end game weapon that the older ones were already trying to remove. It is a lack of respect for the old players or tell me how to go back to the previous version

In my opinion, most of the guns are fun for short jaunt and then they just feel like the standard except the ones that slow you down and the elder + ancient weapons, though the latter are just a pain to collect and I'd rather have the ability to just craft them at this point.

Apologies, so, my liked weapons are some of the ones classed as 'unique' or uncraftable by any other means.

The "Mercy" tesla gun is the ideal weapon for basically every situation because it literally tears through everything in seconds since very few things have any amounts of electric resistance.

Pretty much the only issue you'll have with it is how inconsistent it is with damage area, it's some horrible combination of hitscan and AoE and the ability is meh, but the raw damage output is probably enough to kill many of the bosses in record time for grinding so I guess it balances out.

The Elder Cleaver, it's a sword you can't make at a regular station, it's unique because the combo fires a brief laser for quite a bit of extra damage twice. The ability is very odd and doesn't feel that great to use, the majority of ability damage is linked to projectiles it fires but the issue is that the ability is a dash so that all the projectiles are only fired laterally and travel a little bit upwards before exploding.

Thanks! It's funny... I've gotten VERY used to Grenade Launcher alt fires, to the point where I'm having trouble deciding on other weapons just coz I use it so much with various precision-arced and through-wall kills.

That being said, I just got the Veritas Cannon and that seems interesting. I'm sad to note, though, that the projectile "explosions" do not hit through walls. I'm currently deep underground (searching for a Precursor biome), so I'm kind of playing with the ricocheting alt-fire Dark Plasma.
