Plans for the future?
I've been watching this mod since back when Ryujiin was running the show (is he even still alive?), and I know the Triage guys have been in charge of it for a while, but were you guys ever planning on adding things like unique dialogue for Avali PCs scanning/identifying non-avali objects? Respawn animations? Codex entries? Wardrobe alternatives for the cuh-razay amount of base costumes in the game? (I'd like to see an Avali in the predatory outfit from the Floran story mission) The Avali are great, don't get me wrong, but they don't feel as "immersed" as other Starbound races do, and I feel like at least addressing the first issue (unique PC scanning dialogue) would go a long way in making the race feel "at home." So I was wondering what kind of content you were planning on adding, if any, and if I was the only one who felt this way.

Ryuujin is both alive and off making an Avali mod for Stellaris at the moment, he dropped Starbound a long time ago for working in other games. As for most of the stuff you've asked about almost all of it falls under "not enough manpower to implement in the near future". The exception is the respawn animations, which were explicitly vetoed both due to the sheer mind-numbing difficulty of implementing them and the fact that Ryuujin already "called" that part of development and no one is going to gainsay him.

I can deal with the lack of respawn animation (hell I skip over it for standard races anyway), and I found the forum thread for the mod and you guys ARE apparently working on costume options. Which leaves the PC dialogue for scanning. And lore I guess but that's a different bag o' worms and low I think on everyone's priority list.

Adding scan dialogue for items can't be THAT hard to do, can it? It's only unique snippets for hundreds to over a thousand unique pieces of furnishings and props. I mean come on. =p

Avali has plenty of lore, it's just not in Starbound at the moment; that would require quite a bit of time. Check it out on the Avali wiki.

If you guys are short on manpower, I would like to put my hand up to help.
I love this mod, and I want to see it go far.

If you want to help it seems like they still want additional hands for coding. You can make a fork on github if you know how to code or atleast know the basics to JSON files. https://github.com/Fevix/Avali
But don't quote me on that. I'm not part of the dev team.

All help is accepted, as it makes it that much easier to get things updated.

As for plans for the future, well, currently we're focusing on getting the mod up to standards, and only when we're satisfied with where the mod is will we focus on adding new content.

If it's not some kind of secret information, what exactly are you doing right now? Fixing bugs or adding content that is already done but not implemented into the current version of the mod?

Define "up to standards." I'm not being condescending, I actually don't know what that would mean for your typical race mod. They have sprites, they have their own ship, they don't have scan dialogue or a respawn animation, do those count as standard?

"standards" meaning our standards, meaning a reasonably small amount of bugs. Currently, there are too many issues, but we are constantly whittling away at them, and soon (Soon(c) Valve) we'll be ready to start adding more content into the mod.

Yeah, I can appreciate that kind of mind set. As awesome as new content can be, Thier is already ALOT and every once and a while, a bug can be anoying...

BTW, you guys are heros for updating this mod, Makes me wish I could contribute, but my modding hasnt left Hobbyest levels yet.

Are you accepting help from people who can't necessarily script or code? I could work on scan dialogue and sprite stuff, though I need to relearn some things for the art.

I would really appreciate avali blocks, like Composite Tiles, to be crafted in units of 20. It would sped up crafting SO much.

Also, some more unique dialogue would be nice.
