I can't tell if I'm just lucky or not, but so far any human raiding me hasn't reanimated from the dead I assumed the virus was airborne and everyone was infected. (That or I misunderstood.) The people will rot away normally just fine, whether or not they're buried is irrelevant. II'm talking about raids via enemies by the way, not just my colonists dying via a heart condition or something.
