It definitely has significant travel time, though I couldn't say if it were closer to Warp or Hyperdrive.
Very large ships can travel solo, so there should be a ship component to go FTL on your own but it should have huge energy cost.
Other than that you would build them as per current wormhole stations. Except that you need a station as an exit point as well as for entry. And any nation can use any wormhole station, not just the ones who built it.
Also, because of the exit point requirement, you would need to be able to build a second type of construction ship, big enough to carry its own FTL drive, so they could go out past your current reach to build gates in new places.
All in all, this would be a huge work investment and it probably won't be happening any time soon. But it would be really awesome and I hope it can be done eventually.
There's an entire topic on this already. Much has been discussed regarding the FTL Techs, but it seems that each empire can only use one of the three techs, and it stays that way from beginning to end. The question becomes: Which of the three is best suited for the B5 Universe?
Check out the discussion.

I'll look into them. Thanks!

This site has several 3D models of various ships but I do not know if they are compatible with the game.

Yeah. I saw those. They're in 3ds files, and I need them in maya... Anyone able to convert them?

If you're sticking to cannon ship models lets not forget to include the Nova Dreadnought the predicessor to the Omega Destroyer.
As for non cannon, Agents of Gaming (R.I.P.) had established a full line of EA ships like:
Sagittarus Missile Cruiser
Artemis Frigate
Avenger Carrier
Poseidon Supercarrier
There's also ideas for the other races too, including the non alined worlds too.
I used to play a Galactic Civilizations 2 B5 mod that had pretty good ship models, not sure if they would be compatible with Stellaris though, or if you could get permission to use them. Omega might be hard due to the rotating sections, maybe easier to go with Nova instead?
