Friend and I cant find eachother's non-dedicated servers

So the dedicated servers on this game don't appeal to us, and we want to play through the campaign, or weekend mode. The problem is, when either of us create a game, it doesnt show on the list, and when we use eachother's IP to directly connect, it doesnt work. Can anyone help?!
