Aliens Vs Predator - *OLD*

Suggestions:
1) Have the Plasma Cannon also be Invisible
2) Ability to climb up Trees/Walls
3) Skull Collecting, Skull Trophies
4) Leap Ability
5) Thermo Vision? -is this even possible? LOL
6) Xenomorph NPC?

These are just suggestion of the userbase.

Started off commenting, then said comment turned into a suggestion, so I thought I'd post it here too lol :P

Duuuuude... This is epic! :D
One of my all time fave movies, and this just fits the ark soooooo well! The hunter has discovered a new world full of challenging prey to stalk... Now I've just got to find a mod that allows me to display skulls as trophies! Hey, maybe you could that as a feature? You could turn this from just a gear mod into a full fledged "predator mode" mode :D
As well as that, you should make the armor increase jump height/melee damage, and allow us to take no fall damage below a certain height. Ooh! Another idea too! Would it be possible to have the armor give the ability to climb?... Can you imagine what it'd be like if all those were implemented?... Climbing up into to the canopy, leaping from tree to tree as you stalk your prey... Then leaping down on your quary as you drive your combi stick through its heart! :D
They are adding a new flier which will be able to cling to tree's/surfaces, so the climbing mechanic might actually be doable :]

Wow. Really impressive work and these are really great suggestions thus far, I agree. I've always loved the predator. My only suggestion would be to implement different types of thermo-vision filters for the helmet like the movie predator had. Maybe the ability to see heat signatures through structures and trees? That would be pretty cool. I understand that may not be possible though. Definitely gonna add this to my server. Thank you very much for your efforts!

You know how the only way to get better quality gear is to find the blueprints in beacons? And how mods never really add their gear to said beacons without manually changing beacon loot tables? Well, I just had an idea for your mod... Expanding on the trophies idea, it occurred to me that you could have like a buildable shrine/beacon, which worked as a crafting station. In it, you can build the basic primal gear from regular materials, which all predators have access to, (armor and melee weapons) then for each higher tier, you have to use trophies to craft them. Like for example, to craft the next ramshackle tier, you need the base materials, then X amounts of Y trophies (less deadly creatures), and so on and so forth, with the final tier, ascendant, requiring X number of Giga skull trophies to craft it. It fits the whole Predator "honour hunting" philosophy, that a hunter has to prove themselves worthy of the better equipment. Just like how juvenile predators were sent on hunts with primitive/no equipment, to prove themselves before they were deemed worthy of a plasma caster :]

Apologies for throwing more work at you lol, I just love the idea of this mod and can see the potential it has to be something truly amazing and different from all the other mods out there :]

I'm so glad someone finally made this mod. About a year ago i asked if it was possible to make a mod where you could play as the predator with every animal being replaced by xenomorphs. I still want to see different types of xenomorphs (tameable) that replace the animals in the game as an option. Now that this predator mod seems ready (haven't tested yet), we just need an xenomorph mod. Queen aliens replacing rexes and drone aliens replacing raptors etc.

Now that is an intersting Idea... I mean, the whole interaction between the engineers and the Yautja has been a complete mystery in Predator history, but we know that they discovered the aliens and actually seeded worlds with them to create game reserves, hence the whole AVP thing. Personally, I think that would be better implemented as a seperate mod that replaces dino spawns. That way you can (from a story perspective) either have it so predators have discovered the ark, and are hunting dino's, or you could use the dino replace mod in conjunction with this to have the traditional AVP type back story, Predators being sent to wipe out the threat/hunt the Xenomorphs that they seeded to make a game reserve.

I have been drawing GIgers Xenomorph and Predator since I was a kid, and for people who are familiar with the Xenomorph, they'll know that the embryo laid in a host will take on characteristics of its host, as though its DNA has been merged with that of the host. My point is, if someone was to make this kind of mod, where the Xenomorphs were seeded into a dino populated world, the Xenomorphs would vary and look different from the ones we all know and love. And I think I could do a pretty good job of creating concept art for such hybrids. So if someone does seriously want to go down that avenu and make a go of it, hit me up and I'll whip up some concept art. I'm already coming up with ideas for how I'd do the various dino/Xenomorph hybrids. Dilo Xenomorph that spits acid anyone?... ;D

We could always put together a team to make a complete AVPVD (dino's) Conversion mod... Salcarr working on the predator element... Someone else working on the Xenomorph element... Just a thought...

Yup agree with everything you said. Predator hunts what he wants. So yeah the xenomorph mod should be done seperately but mostly with predator in mind. Designing these aliens after these dinosaurs they take as their host would also be interesting. We need one forum to work out the gameplay element (for example do xenomorphs keep chasing you etc), and a second forum to work out the designs and see what people think works best. I'm honestly willing to help a lot with this mod :D - I have so much on my mind right now as many must.

Aye, I get where you're coming from. As for the gameplay element, I just have one quote... "They mostly come at night... Mostly..."
While that quote's self explanatory to some, I'll elaborate on it. What I'd love to see is next to no xenomorphs during the day, but swarms of them at night, which set out from caves. These caves being the hives where the queen has her egg laying chamber. So if you want to encounter them during the day too, you delve into their hives. I think it would add an actual purpose to the day night mechanic, how you'd be pretty much safe during the day time, but at night... Being outside your base would be nigh on suicidal lol

I feel like we're hijacking Salcarrs suggestion thread a bit here, I hope he doesnt mind. It was his mod that set this idea going lol :')

As for the concept of dino xenomorphs, while Im happy to work on concept art for each dino... I imagine it could be a major undertaking to actually implement these. I mean, behaviour wise, they'd be pretty much the same as their dino origins, but actually creating all those meshes and textures... If you did just use the standard human xenomorph it would be much less work. As I said, Im happy to make the concept art, but it all depends on if there are people willing to actually do that much work to implement them all.

I suppose you could do it "the ark way", by implementing the basic xenomorphs, then adding each new one as they are created. Just like how wildcard release new dino's over time.

I'd say about three different xenomorph types would work fine at first. As time goes on, more designs could be implemented with each dossier explaining which host the xeno originated from. I'm thinking more about the gameplay element though. Would like to obviously keep the ark gameplay style but a bit more combat freedom with the predator that allows for more of a challenge and gameplay variety in terms of combat.

I do have some suggestions specifically for this mod though:

The whole costume concept should stay but a separate but linked mod where you play as the predator model in the same sense of 'play as dino' mod would be awesome. Would also love the ability to jump high without taking much fall damage and without having to set a low gravity that effects other forms of movement. Classic predator mask would also be awesome (basically same scar mask without the scar) Also 'roar' ability cos y not :D Don't mean to overload, simply sharing what i'd like to see.

Hello. Nice to meet you.
I want to give some suggestions but i also want to give an idea about how to do what im talking about.
First off people probably like the fact that they can have the plasma cannon in there hand, when it should be on there shoulder. My idea would be to add the plasma shotgun from AvP 2 and use the pump shoot gun as the model for that.
As for the Traditional canon what if you used the off hand like jet packs do,and have a back plate that wraped underneath the armor to the shoulder where you can place the cannon. That will also make it easier to make it cloak because then the cannon will be armor.

How i think the gun could fire/Aim, you can use a key im gonna say X to trigger aiming mode, this makes so mouse movement moves the guns aim, not the view until you press X again. If you can i think it would also be awesome if you can do the laser pointer they have, in anyway shape or form.

The last this is the cloaking. Awesome for players but not dinos. Maybe you can take the values from the ghillie suit and increase them so dinos don't see you and lose agro quicker.
