Struggling to even beat France?
Okay, so even with 16 motorised divisions from 3 different provinces, I can't even get through 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ french divisions. No special type. just standard 9 infantry battalion.

What has changed? Why is defence so strong now??

Artilerry nerfed and u need armor to penetrate enemy defences now
Build 40w High armored divisions infantry only for holding right now
And make sure your armored troops aint penetrated because AI rush anti tank guns.
If you want to crush france more easy you should attack before that surrender debuff goes off or your job will be very very very very hard.

Tanks failed too. My example was just hyperbole.

Dont go for light tanks you need medium II or heavy II tanks and specially 40 with high armour which cant penetrated by enemy divisions

Motorised is straight up junk without tanks. I don't run motorised without armor at all. Basically the way the armor and piercing system works you want a tank unit as part of every unit if you can. Obviuosly that won't be possible early on or with every infantry.

The key isn't tanks, it's air superiority.

Motorised isn't to kill the enemy, it's to hold the supply lines open while your tank forces finish the encirclement. Killing is best left to the armored divisions or artillery.

This exactly. Air superiority provides a debuff to enemy strength and speed. Depending on which air doctrine you choose, it can be a very large malus to defense stat for all forces under your airforce's sights.

I beat France like it's a piece of cake now. Use 20 width Medium tanks and motorised as the rear to flood broken defences. My issue now is beating the USSR. I can't move an inch in. They have 20 divisions per province by 1941.

My strategy is to use 40 width medium armor (not pure armor, a few motorized or mechanzied thrown in to increase Organization) to cause encirclements. Use motorized to fill in the captured territories, as infantry are too slow.

Once the encirclement is complete simply start killing the men, generally I just walk in a circle with the armor until I've spiraled to the center.

Try not to attack with infantry, it will give you heavy manpower losses you can't afford if you're going to invade the USA.

Slow and steady is the key here, trying to rush in will lose you more supplies and men than you can afford vs a planned encirclement doctrine.

I've tried that. The main trouble is breaking through with tanks. Even 6 or so struggle to break into a province when the Soviets are constantly reinforcing the spot with fresh divisions.

Also, what template are you using for 40 width tanks?

I'm using 3 lines of mediums, and one line of motorised, plus artillery and recon companies.

Same template, but:
Artillery, Recon, Engineer, Logistics, maintanence.

I also ensure that I have air superiority over a region I'm using tanks in and I max armor on my tanks using army XP.

Alright, thanks. What do you use for your early army composition? (36-39), to have enough manpower to annex Austrians and Czechs?

I just make the default infanterie divisions you start with, altering them later when I get more army XP to have more support divs and be 40 width.
