As for your question, its a bit difficult one. Mandalorians would probably be best when it comes to infantry overall, but they dont have speeder troops at all. Its been long since i last played unmodified SWC but i think that Mandos can train force sensitives on both sides of the force, as neither Jedi nor Sith are specific to their faction. However Imperial Red guards are best infantry with their effective rifles and force pikes. Only Jedi and Sith are better than them. And Imperials have Speeders. Otherwise it matters little what faction you choose.
OT:
What is this thing about spacebattles with the ships? Aiming with mouse is super annoying. I have to set my sensivity like 9000dpi for a smooth aiming. Do i something wrong?
If you refer to the option at academies its more like an test made by SWC team than else. I can only guess that they were testing the possibility of including fighter battles into the mod but ended up leaving this out due to it not working well enough.
