Imperial Royal Guards are pretty good. They use the DLT-19 sniper rifles, one of the most accurate and powerful guns in the game, and have good armor and a serious melee weapon. The only problem is how hard they are to get.

A lot the mercenaries have terrible armor and aren't worth the butthurt to level them up, but Gammoreans stand out in sieges because they have shields. You can use them to shield good marksmen like Royal Guards.

An honorable mention definitely goes out to Rebel Heavy Troopers. They're just extremely good marksmen (like most of the faction end-tiers). Another goes out to Veteran Imperial Gunners. They get the same DLT-19 but with worse armor/melee, but are much easier to train up.

If you are talking about 'city' sieges - stick to common human soldiers (militia and security guards) as a backbone. They are very cheap yet versatile, coming with personal 200\200 shields and pretty good pistols, lvl2 soldiers recieves better armor so always try to up basic recruits at least once. Key idea to use them as a frontline absorbing enemy fire and reducing distance for your melee or just more expensive troops.

If you prefer simple meat waves - use any imperial gunners from Stormtrooper and higher (theres no big difference in skills and weapon mastery in comparison with rebel units), because ALL imperial soldiers cost cheaper to buy\upgrade\maintain than rebel due to slightly smaller skill stats.

Imperial officers and royal guards are best, officers works great on long distances and have decent load out and overall stats, so you migth use'em as your primary gunners all the time. Guards greatly armored and own best military weapon in game which can 1-2 hit kill nearly everybody.

Rebel troopers slightly stronger in stats in comparison with imperials but cost more, so its wise to use their basic or advanced soldiers only, not filling whole party with rebs. I perefer to use them as second line, filled with rebel cadets or fleet troopers. Expensive alternative is to fill at least 20-30 slots in your party with vanguards - heavly armed and armored warriors across galaxy after fully upgraded wookies and gammoreans (which posess poorer weapons and\or armor thus being worse than vanguards) to use as effective frontliners.

Huge luck if you will be able to get at least dozen of jedis, even basic one. Their equipment - one of the strongest in game, lightsabers dealing huge damage, 'force block' shield has better stats than physical one, plus force push or force kill works great on middle dinstance compared to blasters in terms of both DPS and CRIT.

Feel free to experiment with troops and proportions but never, NEVER bring any pilots to the siege, of cause if you are not using blitzkrieg tactics to shut down enemy fire quickly because they are very weak without their swoops and on siege maps they wont be able to roll good enought without being shot in one seconds. :happycubelet:

I think the Mandalor troops are pretty good as well. Also Stat wise they do not differe to much. It is more about gear. Which like they have said Imps have good gear. Rebels have slightly better stats but slightly means jack for the cost they have.

Here is a link to the troop stats. https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=40510.0

Cover a jedi? What are you putting a blanket on them? Thought yeah now I am starting to get some jedi/sith. They are nice for a meat shield. Same with rancors.

Some planet seiges are very colse quarted and sometimes you spawn surounded by the enemies so I try to use jedi or rancors. Anything with a close up wepon is good.
