It is
wait, whats this?
more mayann items?
so... its dead but people are just in denial.
k.
Don't worry. Totally not taking you wrong on your comment... But I do want to clear up a few things in no perticular order. First I'm not in denial... Just late to the show so to speak... I wanted to release all my stuff in one massive surge. And with all the stuff I had planned it took time.
Secondly...All these community updates are waiting to become official and when Valve picks one then we will have a set date to submit stuff. So All the items you see being made beforehand are being made by enthusastic folks gambling on the update they like. When Valve highlights the one they like the best then there is going to be a second HUGE wave of stuff being made for the official theme.
Thirdly: The Mayann update and the frontline update have had totally different origins. The Mayann Project was a small crew of guys that were being EXTRA closed lipped and put out a Really good more generic presentation with the plan of making the Mayann project look even more grand after they recieved some submissions from the community... They did this to have more of a feeling that the project was open to the community to make better... Frontline however was a LARGE group of the top workshopper guys having a closed circle to the rest of the community that came out with a Great Bang a month later and had a ton of stuff already made for it. This to me felt like Invasion a bit with the closed circle nature a bit and the fact that they had more people and came out a month later gave them time to one up the Mayann update quite a bit... Also with such a great presentation... Most workshoppers are Gambling on Frontline...
Okay so with all that said... I must say both update suggestions are great... I would prefer that the Mayann Update become official but that is because I have a huge love for the theme and feel it would add more to the TF2 universe. ( We already have a ton of army themed cosmetics and whatnot.) But with that said now that I got my Safari stuff out I plan on making stuff for Frontline as well so I have good chances if either update makes it.
