I don't get why you guys are saying that a mini dispenser shouldn't give out metal. Really? That's the main reason dispensers are built, and removing it's metal supplying capabilities means that the Engineer has no reason to even put one up, forget putting it somewhere useful. It should work like this:
Metal cost: 75 (Prevents building the Mini dispenser and the Regular Sentry in one life without more metal from another source.)
Build speed: 4.5 seconds if hit by a wrench, 7.5 if not, 3.0 seconds if built, then redeployed elsewhere
Health: 80 (follows same trend as the regular LV.1 sentry health compared to LV.1 dispenser health, prevents quick Engineer bases from being built.)
Provides 15 HP per second (a bit less than the level 2 dispenser.)
Provides 40 metal every 12 seconds, with a max metal storage of 200. The building starts with 25 metal.
Provides ammo every 4 seconds, refilling your reserves slowly as if you collected a small ammo pack every 4 seconds.
Cannot be upgraded or repaired, must be destroyed to be replaced.
Cannot place more than one.
Mini Dispenser has 20% explosive vulnerability (Mini Dispensers are not designed to survive explosives, prevents Engineers from spamming the things for effective metal supplies.
Gibbed remains of a destroyed Mini Dispenser will provide 36 metal.
To use it, it should be independent of the Gunslinger. It's already included with the Handy Partner PDA the creator made, so it should be paired with a PDA.
Regular and Promotional Sappers destroy this building in 4 seconds (More vulnerable to regular Sappers.)
The Red Tape Recorder will slowly deconstruct this building in about 10 seconds (resistant to Red Tape Recorder), but when sapped by the Red Tape Recorder, it loses any metal and ammo inside itself.
Now here's the most interesting part: In order to receive Ammo and Metal from a Mini Dispenser, you must crouch. Now that might not sound too bad, but it leaves you vulnerable to backstabs and easy headshots from Snipers. Health is dispensed regardless of standing or crouching, however.
Hm, think I've covered everything. Any questions?

Sounds like good stats. I don't think the crouching concept will work though.

Well, the Mini Dispenser is small, after all. Realistically, you would need to crouch down to reach in and grab ammo and metal. Keep in mind Health is given regardless of whether you're standing or not, you just need to be close to it.

Those sound like great ideas! I hope this ends up in-game!

Thanks! I hope I get to help define this awesome workshop creation.

This is awesome.. I hope it will be in "leaked spy vs. engi" update or what it was.. We are still waiting after 2 years of this awesome idea.

the stats are basically what i thought of just like the mini sentry, less op, faster build, cant upgrade ect.
Nephew Dave 16 Nov, 2014 @ 4:03pm
I'm considering modifying this slightly. After changing the Dispenser's variable in TF2 to the ones outlined, metal comes a bit too slow. What do you guys think?
oppiH 17 Nov, 2014 @ 7:43am
I agree with your thoughts above, don't increase the metal by too much though, maybe an increment of one or two. I say this as somebody who frequently uses the short circuit and therefore believe that around 15 over the time frame suggested is reasonable as it would perhaps help when countering the explosive vulnerability.
Nephew Dave 18 Nov, 2014 @ 7:06am
I'm not really accounting for the Short Circuit, the issue is it's too rarely used and requires too much metal from the likes of a Mini Dispenser. After some more number crunching, 40 metal every 9-10 seconds sounds more reasonable. What do you guys think?
Drcipres 18 Nov, 2014 @ 2:39pm
The stats can be like the mini sentry. faster building and low heatlh. Also give less ammo and metal
Demislonzie 18 Nov, 2014 @ 3:51pm
add this to the gun slinger it will be awesome
I think it might be a better idea to lower the metal cap, possibly to somewhere in the 140 range.
Nephew Dave 19 Nov, 2014 @ 5:47am
No, it will be kept separate from the Gunslinger, and put into the PDA. Mini Dispensers are ideal for Rescue Wrangling, shame on you if you don't know what that is. The stats are designed to follow the same trend that the regular Sentry shares with the regular Dispenser in terms of health. Considering the LV. 2 Dispenser has a 450 metal cap, and the LV. 2 Sentry shares eerily similar firepower ratio with the mini sentry, I find the larger metal cap reasonable.
