A.V.I.A.N. Crew Member/"Pet" Hologram?
So here's an idea I recently had. Well, two for the price of one, which ever works out best.

The idea is that through an item building thing or through a quest or something, you could get the ability to make an A.V.I.A.N. hologram companion to take with you, fight alongside you, etc. I figure this could work one of two ways:

1. You "build" an NPC that you can then recruit as a "crew member". She counts as her own class A.V.I.A.N. She cannot wear any items by default (not affected by Tailor).

2. You "build" her as a creature which you then 'capture' with a capture pod. Of course, she's not going to make it easy, so the moment she's placed she'll try to run away from you just to tease you. Once you do capture her though you can throw the ball to summon her pod like any other pet.
(Basically a bit like the Frackin Universe robots.)

Either way, she's immune to fire, ice, and VERY resistant to physical attack, but weak to energy. She weilds either a holographic Magnaorb and/or some sort of (invisible) holographic lightning thrower.

1st one has my vote
this sounds like fun
I like both. Can I vote for both? Twice?

Both have their upsides and downsides.

For #1, You don't have to remember to throw her out whenever you're around, plus she counts one towards a ship upgrade. Plus you could probably (theoretically) create a whole ship full of AVIAN holograms (lol bring on the AVIAN harem!) Plus she'd probably look and act more normal as a crewmember than as a creature. Plus you could give her a class ability.
Downside is though that you can't take AVIAN on mech-based missions with you (you can unleash AVIAN to bust up a hostile ship for example). Plus it has the usual NPC buggery, and on top of that once AVIAN "dies" you can't recharge her either, you have to go back to the ship and get her. Finally, it might cause problems with AVIAN trying to wear the fugly protectorate suit or might cause problems with the tailor. Plus there'd probably come a point where you'd surpass her in power and she'd become useless. Plus you can't give her collar upgrades.

For #2, I think it's more realistic. Plus you don't have to worry about the Tailor and/or crew system giving her a fugly suit. Plus you can take her with you and call her out when you need it, and recharge her when she gets damaged too much. Probably easier to implement her as a creature as well, but I wouldn't exactly know. Plus you could give her collar upgrades. The obvious downside is that she'd behave like a creature, spastically running about all the time rather than acting like an NPC. Plus there is the issue that she'd only have as much power (and health?) as you have, though that might be an upside as well all things considering.

I like the idea of having her as a companion. She's an awesome character for sure, and anything that gives her more screentime and dialogue is more than okay with me! One of the current issues I have with this mod is that once you go through most of her dialogue, it almost feels more lonely not having her commenting on your actions. I feel like having her follow you around could lead to many more opportunities for good dialogue and bonding.

Quite true. I wonder if it's possible to script in semi-random comments. Like making her choose a new comment from a list every 20 minutes or so. Just her talking about herself or the ship or stars or something. Conspiracy theories. Incredibly misremembered historical facts. If it is, that would solve the late character loneliness issue. Especially if it allowed for other mods to add on to the list.

My vote is for the second one, but instead of using the creature AI you could mix and match the NPC and creature AIs (using both to create a hybrid AI) I also like the idea of having the plushie replace the default ship pet after you purchase it, but that is just wishful thinking.

I'd enjoy having a smart-mouth A.V.I.A.N. AI running around having crazy adventures and edeavours with the player. It'd definitely help that lack of dialogue at the end-game.

Just would like to note that I've seen this thread, just me and Cgeta have been a bit busy.
I'll read through it once I've pushed the next update... hopefully :U

Actually, one general critique was that there was too much dialogue and or talking. I have been trying to come up with a solution to that, to keep both sides happy, but it'll unlikely be in the next update.

You could make two versions. Ones with our beloved AVIAN constantly talking, and one where she doesn't.

But I'd love to have her wandering around my ship.

If that's the case, there is always the light version.

Honestly, if they didn't want an AI with a personality, why bother using this mod at all?

In fact, I'm actually surprised she doesn't say anything at all when you pick up the nudie posters of her.
Putting my vote on 2.

What about like an ability, maybe replace the head slot with avian, who will give you highlights of enemy's position or somthing. Great mod m8
